5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
Does your nose burn, eyes dry....most likely your humidity is low....you have A/C well get this product and know whats going on with your humidity...no complaints on this product worked as it said.

5-0 out of 5 stars Verry accurate
The Thermo-Hygrometer and the remote sensor work great.I ordered a extra wireless remote sensor (THR138) and it does not work. The main unit receives no signal from this sensor.
I ordered another complete unit for about ten bucks more than just the extra sensor and will use it in another room. Problem solved.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value
Purchased a month ago & works great.I retired from the
field of electronics design & engineering over 5 years ago.
A few years prior to that I developed a remote sensing
thermometer (wire connected) that had only a fraction of
the features of this, at a cost of several times the price
of this unit.I am impressed !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very pleased!
I originally bought a GE unit from Target. Piece of junk, very inaccurate.
I wanted to monitor the humidity in my basement workshop with a dehumidifier. With the extended unit, i can monitor my bedroom and with another extra extended unit i monitor my babies room.
All 3 separate units, the main unit and 2 extended units placed together showed very similar readings. The GE product was over 15% wrong with humidity, (they say it's calibrated within 5%).
I also broughtthe Oregon Scientific units outdoors and checked the humidity against what the National Weather Service reported for the area and it was right on. The GE unit reported 80% humidity in a while the OG units showed 65% as reported by th Nation Weather Service.
They seem more substantial pieces and not toys displaying big LCD numbers and graphics.
These are not expensive compared to really high end humidity measuring devices so i expect inaccuracy and can tolerate inaccuracy within reason. (Unlike the GE sold at target) Therefore this product meets and even exceeds my expectations. I believe it represents honestly what it intends to do for this price range.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worked just fine..... for a while!
I purchased this unit in late December 2002 (as a Christmas present to myself), and was tremendously pleased with it for nearly a year.....

However, a few months ago it developed a horribly irritating flaw -- the LCD screen would simply go blank, and had to be reset (PITA, because it doesn't have a reset "button"; instead, you have to straighten out a paperclip and shove it into a small hole in the back).

I've emailed the folks at Oregon Scientific about this problem, and they suggested a variety of things that they thought *might* correct this behaviour (i.e. make sure the transmitting and receiving units are at least 10ft apart, try switching to a different channel, etc).Unfortunately, none of their suggestions had any effect on the problem, and it just continues to get worse (i.e. I now have to go thru the reset process 2 or 3 times before the display comes back). And a subsequent email to the Oregon Scientific folks 3 days ago has yet to be responded to.

So while I was satisfied with this unit at one time, it is now just worthless, and I consider it to have been a waste of my money. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product Better Then More Expensive Ones.
I paintball a lot and have spent well over $100 in different mic's. This one is the only one that my team uses now. It stays on, is very clear and works well for everyone on our team, young, old, big or little ears. We also use it for cycling.

1-0 out of 5 stars Will not stay on my ear
I cannot get this to stay on my ear. When I do get it on, it is not close enough to my ear, so it's hard to hear.I now use the earbud model with a PTT/mic on the cord -- Motorola 53727.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great product but....
My buddy and I use the Motorola 56320 earpiece & boom microphone several times over the past year.We use them in conjunction with Motorola VOX capable walkie talkies. They are fairly comfortable and work as advertised.

We do have one small complaint. You wouldn't think so but I could argue that the cheap 10 cent microphone windscreen is this product's most important component.

I found this out the hardway. The windscreen is not secured to the microphone by any adhesive.Over time the fit gets loose, and it keeps falling off. When this happens it is only a matter of time before you lose it.We use ours to comunicate while bike riding.Without a windscreen, the mike constantly keeps openning and closing, regardless of sensitivity settings.

Trying to buy replacement windscreens is near impossible. We searched high and low, and could not find anything afordable. We settled on a piece of a replacement foam cushion. It worked, however it makes us look like dorks! We finally caved and bought new headsets.

So do yourself a favor, before you use the Motorola 56320, take a minute and secure the windscreen to the mike with electrical tape or adhesive. If you don't you'll be kicking yourself after you lose it and recall this prediction!

4-0 out of 5 stars Motorola Headset 56320, GOOD, A+!
I use a Motorola Talkabout T6400 in whats called an "Airsoft Game", much like paintball, but with a military simulation twist. Anyway, communication is a very important thing, thus we all use two-way radios. Holding the radio and carrying it in my hand just was not an option, as I use an airsoft gun that takes up two hands. I bought the T6400 with a clip and all, but needed a headset. I saw many products outthere, some ranging from $20-100. I was tight on money, so I decided to go with this particular item. For $10, or whatever it is, you can't really beat it.
The capabilities are as follows (especially if you are looking for the VOX feature)

    PTT and VOX compatible with Talkabout® 270, 280, T289, T5100, T5200, T5300, T5320, T5400, T5410, T5420, T5600, T5620, T5700, T5710, T5720, T5800, T5820, T5950, T6200, T6210, T6220, T6250, T6300, T6310, T6320, T6400, T7200 Series, fr50 and fr60 radios.

PTT-only compatible with T5100, T5200, fr50 and fr60 radios are not VOX/handsfree capable, therefore, headset is manual PTT only.

On to the field testing and use..
After doing some prelimenary tests to adjust my volume and whatnot, I got out in a game. My teammates said they could hear me loud and clear, almost too loud they said, haha. I could hear them perfectly as well. However, the ear piece that hooks onto your earlobe would occasionally fall off, now I have a small ear which was probably the problem.
The VOX feature that I can use on my two-way works pretty well using this headset. It will pick up your voice almost everytime within a tenth of a second, and agian, transmit everything 'loud and clear'. Be careful when whispering those things other people aren't supposed to hear ;) it will pick up EVERYTHING. Whoopsies....

I would highly recommened this item for any type of "irregular" use. As far as using it in the car, or however else, I do not think it would be my first choice because of the bulkiness, etc.
The clarity is an A+, the price is an A+, the receiving earpiece gets an A, and the ear piece itself, well a "B" for falling off my ear.

    Good Luck!

2-0 out of 5 stars not compatible with what you may think
This product seems like a great idea but only if it works with the radio that you have. When I recieved this product I plugged it into my t5400 and expected to be able to speak and listen without any buttons.Well I couldn't do this because the t5400 is not compatible even though this site and the packaging say that it is.I am returning the product to amazon expecting a full refund including shipping.I am very disappointed with the situation I have encountered and wait on the outcome which will depend on myself shopping on amazon again. ... When the indicator crystals turn Pink it is time to "re-new" the unit.Simply remove the unit from where it is adsorbing moisture and plug it into a power outlet. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for the price
I own two of these systems, one for my main home and one for my weekend home. I'm about to buy a third for another house. It's not that I think the system is fantastic, but it's that I'd never be able to justify buying three Davis units that cost 2 or 3 times as much as this one. The system does take a while to set up (you have to remove and replace lots of tiny screws to put all the batteries in). But for the price, you get a decently accurate system that is ready to connect to a computer via a standard serial cable. I recommend using a computer interface, as the display unit supplied with this station does have some deficiencies, as noted by others. I use Ambient's weather software to record the data and automatically update my Weather Underground sites with current conditions (KNCHAYES2 and KVAARL3). Overall, I'd say that this is a decent unit for the money, but do be prepared to do a little fiddling to get the most out of it. By the way, I have not had any of my units fail in either of the two systems I own. One more note--the batteries in the outdoor units seem to last forever. The first time I got a low-battery indication on any of my outdoor sensors was after two years of continuous use. The indoor thermometer/barometer (with no solar cell) doesn't last as long--I'm getting about 9 months on one set of batteries in that unit. Sorry, yet another note--I like that you can add on additional sensors. I have three additional sensors in my weekend house--one in the crawlspace to warn me of conditions leading to frozen pipes; one in my hot tub; and one in the fridge to warn me if the power went out inbetween visits so that I can judge if the food could be spoiled. All of these data are sent to my web site, so I can monitor all of these conditions during the week from anywhere that I can access the web. Pretty neat. Overall, I'm having fun with this station.

4-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for (3 stars)
I haven't installed a Davis unit, but this product is now selling for less than 1/2 the price of a Davis unit. Also check out Peet Bros units, which are more expensive but not wireless.

Advantages: Inexpensive compared to other full-featured stations, least expensive unit with RS-232 output. Solar panel/power units have both NimH and Alkaline backup batteries and can install up to about 3 m from the sensor. 3 sensors can be deployed in different locations to optimize placement individually. Power units are reasonably well waterproofed with silicone gaskets; nevertheless, my wind unit solar panel leaked, and I had it replaced under warranty, wait was about 1 month. (Be sure to install cables with drip loops and install the gaskets for the RJ connectors.) Lots of gizmos - opening the WMR968 is like Christmas!

Disadvantages: You may not like the appearance or convenience of having three different outdoor sensors all connected with cables to their power units; my wife didn't at first but we came to an agreement :-) Sensors are not particularly sensitive - rain gauge cannot resolve rainfall rates less than 1 mm /.04 in, rainfall rate is wildly inaccurate but total seem correct, anemometer doesn't "kick in" below about 3 mph, other accuracy is pretty good. Cannot display dew points below 0 C / 32 F, although humidity seems accurate. Outdoor temp/RH sensor seems sensitive to rain and definitely cannot be placed in direct sun. Manual is terrible - as previous posters have pointed out, search for and download the Radio Shack WX200 manual. Oregon Scientific support is a black hole.

In summary this model gives you a good bang for the buck, but the much more expensive Davis models may be better. You get what you pay for.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beginners only! Serious weather bugs buya DAVIS!
Purchased unit in july 2004. Has worked good since then. It required 4-6 hours to set up unit and another hour to build a stand to hang weather sensors on(look at buying a weather sensor stand but that was way overbudget on this project)

First the hygrometer both indoor and outdoor sensors work within printed parameters. In my arid climate even during a rain storm do I rarely seem more than 80% only a heavy fog or dewcan it hit 95-100% The temperature sensors are within a degree or 2 (found frost one morning when the sensor only reported 34 degrees not 32 or lower).

The rain gauge is pitiful. A small amount of precip will not register on display. Also main unit will tell how much rain fell yesterday but not currently. It keeps a resetable running total but if you get a massive downpour it will say how fast it is raining but not how much until the next day. Also wish it kept a daily total like it rain .25 on Mon and .33 on Tues so on.

The barometer is good as soon as you get your correct reading for your altitude. However I have not been able to find a way to adjust the display on the sensing unit it reads like 22.04 and the the main unit is adjusted to say 29.11 . One good thing is, it is an excellent tool for weather chasing. When the pressure drops rapidly it usally rains. A rain event can be tracked on the bar graph!

The wind gauge may not be working quite right on my system . A very windy day will only be about 17-20mph. However it might be in a bad area where the wind is being blocked somewhat. I will probably move the instrument to a more open spot and see if it will get a more realistic reading.

Finally the clock . A person must manually set the time and date and the unit doesnt adjust for daylight savings. I wish this was an "atomic clock". That never needed adjusted.

Oh yeah two more items "the manual" stinks . Get the RADIO SHACK manual the other reviewers talk about. Print it off and read before your unit arrives. This will save alot of frustration. KEEP the box the unit came with for one year. I read the warranty and they will only accept a warranty repair if it is sent only in the ORIGINAL BOX!

1-0 out of 5 stars Be sure you know what you are getting
After buying this item as at christmas the rain gauge and the outdoor temp sensor quit working. Beware there is only amonth warrenty and others have reported the same issues. I thought that "those problems won't happen to me" now I have a half operating station that is more expensive to repair than to replace. Be sure to read all of the reviews and understand what you are buying.

3-0 out of 5 stars Instruction Manual is poorly written.
You have to read between the lines a lot when assembling this unit. Not too difficult if you have some mechanical knowledge. So far so good, time will tell on its longevity when in operation. ... Read more
