2-0 out of 5 stars Try to find a port
I own a Sony VAIO computer. In the computer, there are no ports to put in this cord.Ended up buying something for [money] to convert it to a USB connection. Then, I couldn't find a program that would be able to send and receive data to my eTrex GPS via a USB port. Was definitely a hassle.

3-0 out of 5 stars Excelent for Portables.
The cable doesn't come with any software, but is great for upgrading the software on your eTrek(avilable from Garmin's website) You will need a GPS compatible mapping program to get the full advantage. The cable connects very securly to the GPS, and is plenty long enough.

3-0 out of 5 stars Expensive, but a cable is necessary
This little cable is very, very overpriced, but unfortunately, for those of you that own the original eTrex or any eTrex model with no cable, you'll want to own this or an equivalent so you can download the latest updates to your GPS receiver from garmin and load them onto the unit. And you want this ability because Garmin does a good job of fixing bugs and adding new little software features. But if you can't build your own cable, then you should grab one of these...

2-0 out of 5 stars Good quality, but get the data+power cable...
The quality of this cable is fine, but it doesn't give you access to the power pins that are in the Garmin interface.Get the cable that does power and data instead...or if you're a hardware geek, then make your own with the stuff from purple open projects (pfranc.com) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice quality, somewhat pricey
Purchased this for the kitchen and installed it pretty much as directed. (If you have more than one-inch overhang on your kitchen shelves you need to do a little extra installation work.) The main selling point for me was the larger screen vs. most other kitchen slimline units and the fact that it has the DVD.

After a couple of months, I'm still happy with it. The controls are nicely designed, sound is good, but the picture is mediocre compared to current TV's.Compared to recent LCD's, even low end ones, it's so-so -- but certainly adequate for kitchen viewing.

Two other thoughts: first, it would be nice if the TV would lock in the up position with the screen hidden and less exposed to kitchen dirt and flying food. (We have toddlers.) Second, the DVD is fairly sensitive to dirty discs versus our other player. So far a paper towel and some window cleaner does the trick though.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best christmas gift!
My husband surpirsed me with this for christmas.Since I spend so much time in our kitchen this is the perfect gift for the chef in your home. The sound and the quality of the picture are great.I think the dvd quality is much better than watching the tv.I highly recommend this! The size is also perfect, it is not to obnoxious in the kitchen. It is very sleek and discreet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good w/ annoyances
Got this for my wife's christmas present. In general, it all works rather well.DVD, TV and Radio (phone part untested) all work well and look good.Sound is decent. However, there are some things Audiovox ought to improve upon:

1. IR remote control reception is too finicky. It appears there are two IR receivers on the unit. One on the main unit and one below the TV screen. If you don't aim the remote control exactly perpenticular to one of those two receivers, the remote control isn't picked up.It could be the remote control shipped with the unit is weak.I can be only 5 feet away from the unit and the remote won't be picked up.

2. MP3 playback mode is weak. While it does play MP3s, it will only shuffle within folders. Also, it doesn't read the ID3 tags of the MP3 files. All you will see is the file name (which is truncated way too short in my opinion). It also isn't easy to get the CD in shuffle mode (lots of button clicks).

3. Tough to get disks in/out.You have to be in DVD mode to get a disk (CD,DVD,etc) in/out of the unit.Something you can get used to but why not allow disks to be inserted/ejected while you are watching TV or listening to the radio?

4. I have not found a way to program a TV channel in or out of the channel lineup. When the unit first powers up, it does an autoscan of all channels you can receive. It appears you can't take out any channel it decided the signal was good enough for.Same for adding a channel.

5. You are unable to use the remote to jump memory presets. For instance, if you preset a radio station (it has 4 presets), you can't use the remote to jump to that preset (same for the TV).You have to go to the main console buttons to do it.

6. The viewable screen angle range isn't too hot.For the most part, you want to be viewing the screen on center.

It is possible some of these can be circumvented, but the accompying manual is extremely terse.Still, considering the bredth of media this player can deal with, I think it was a good purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars Won't show color
I got the 10.4" (which is discontinued)as a present for my Dadand it was impressive right out of the box. However the picture wouldn't display with color after the unit was warmed up (DVD picture was fine - just problems with the TV picture).I had the cable company check the signal just in case but the problem was in the set. Also the clock wouldn't set right.I've reordered the 10.2" so I'll try again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch!
Very compact, excellent picture and sound. A key feature is the ability to change the screen configuration; the default is widescreen (16:9), but you have the ability to change the proportions for a normal television picture or utilize the widescreen for DVD's.

We also found that it plays DVD+R and DVD+RW, even though that's not in the tech specs.I'm not sure about the DVD-R/RW.

My only negative is that when not viewed the screen locks only with the screen facing down toward the countertop, which isn't optimal in a kitchen. It will close in the opposite direction, but not lock.

Other than that, a terrific find!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for PDA or PC connection
The GPS 76 is the perfect portable GPS unit for connecting to a PocketPC based PDA or a laptop.I have tested it on an iPAQ 3835 with Pocket Streets 2002 and it works like a champ.I have also tested it with a friend's PDA using Anywhere Map (a moving map/EFIS type program for flying) and it worked great. If you are in an area that can get WAAS reception, the accuracy is even better. If you are looking for a great GPS that can be used stand-alone or attached to a PDA, this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with this
I bought the bicycle mounting bracket for use with the Color Meridian. It's simple to attach to a bike. The receiver is very secure in this mount and this is based on some light off-road biking. One issue is that it can be difficult to see the receiver screen when it's sunny, but this has nothing to do with the bike mounting bracket -- just the overall experience. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great iPAQ GPS
I've been using TomTom GPS software on my iPAQ for some time now but the sheer amount of cables involved in connecting to my Delorme GPS unit made for a messy car.So, I decided to check out the NavMan unit. After a bit of research it appeared that it would work with the TomTom software.Great news is that installation of the NavMan was simple, although I seem to have to activate the software that came with the NavMan unit even though I was going to use TomTom software.Starting up the TomTom software and telling it to use the IPAQ sleeve was simple and I now have the software I like and am used to along with a great GPS solution.I'd highly recommend this GPS sleeve.

1-0 out of 5 stars An unqualified product
I am going to return this item. I was even inclided to mark the product as defective when choosing the return reasons. This product is really bad at:

1) The GPS continues to lose signal. Even if I have updated the GPS firmware accordingly to the company's website. In many open places, it took more than 3-5 minutes to get a satellite fix and then it lost soon.

2) I am in New Jersey, however, the address of my doctor can't be found in the map.

3) Most amazingly, the car cigratte ligher adaptor cannot be fit into the GPS backpack. After contacting the NAVMAN support, the guy asked me to buy another IPAQ accessary separately. I just wonder, had they tried it before they made this product?

4) The customer support of NAVMAN is really bad. I sent email to them and wait for almst a week and couldn't get a response. Calling their phone get me an answer, though the guy was not very patient.

1-0 out of 5 stars bad routing, not trustworthy
good:
1)the interface looks good, fancy looking
that's it!

bad:
1)DUMB software: keep tell me to "perform illegal U-turn" when I am on i-5 going from SF to LA. It won't re-route until midpoint on I5

2)Exit: most of the time it will not tell you where to exit from the highway, no street name, no exit# (it will only say "exit in 1500 feet"). So if there's multiple exits (especially in LA!) within couple hundred feet, it will get very confused and make the user confused too! 99% of the time the user will end up getting out on the wrong exit!

3)when the highway splits, it won't know which highway it's on if you chose the middle lane. or, it thinks you are on the highway when it's really on the service road.

4)frequent reboot/freeze up.

5)it will take non-necessary shortcut, get people lost

6)won't let you choose the route. Stubborn piece of junk.

my wife doesn't want to use it, my friends who had used it don't trust it. makes me look like an idiot.

should never get this.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good...only when it works
In general, this is kind of a "you've got what you paid for" result. I tried a NAVMAN ICN630 (with no battery and no touch screen) before I purchased this so the comments are mainly based on my comparison of the two.

The major issues I had with this unit are:

1) Poor signal reception -- the ICN 630 can be placed at almost any place in the car and still with a good enough reception, which is not the case for the 3450 sleeve. I'm thinking about getting an external antenna and see if it'll help since I prefer to mount it at the dash board near the radio.

2) Unstable software -- sometime the application got stuck right at the "agreement" page after the splash screen and it frequently requires resetting. Sometimes it shuts the unit off for no reason.

3) Slow map,re-routing and position update -- Well, it could be my iPaq 3870 that is too slow

However, the $142 price tag is pretty attractive and the user interface was pretty neat (such as the 3D navigation), once you overcome the awkwardness and get used to it. Be able to use stylus to enter the address is another plus. The voice guide is audible at the max setting when there is no radio or music. Battery consumption is hefty, so it's not really practical to be used as a handheld unit without attaching to a power source. It comes with maps that cover the full U.S. and Canada. Software installation involves too many steps and user inputs. Map installation is extremely slow but fortunately you only need to to it once if you have a large enough memory card. The accuracy is OK with plenty obsolete information in the SF Bay Area due to many recent developments.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the money--this thing is fantastic.
I wanted a GPS for occasional trips (especially when traveling in new cities) but I didn't want to spend hundreds to get one. I was thrilled to stumble across this, which also offered the chance to get some use out of my dusty Ipaq 3670. As GPS's go, it's definitely at the low-end, but it works just fine. And for the money it's unbeatable. Even if you have to buy a used Ipaq off Ebay, it's still a great value. The suction-cup mount that comes with it is excellent, and the car charger works great. There are a few minor downsides:(a) It's running off however much RAM is in your Ipaq (mine is 64mb), so it starts a little slow. (b) It can hang if you try to move around menus while it's calculating a route. (c) You really need CF memory if you're going to load more than 1 state into it. 256mb will get you half of the US. All in all, an excellent value and a solid product. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must add on for your Garmin iQue 3600
This is a must add on device.First inside your car you need the dash holder to hold the unit safely. You need the car battery power to keep the unit power happy. You need the additional audio amplifier to give you ample and loud turn prompts. To enjoy using your unit you must get this add on device. You will also need at least a 256 MB SD chip to hold the maps and an external amplified antenna to put on your car's roof. With these add on items your Garmin unit will perform like a champ.I refuse to leave the house without mine.Love it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get a Zip-Linq instead
The Zip-Linq products available for USB/Palm synch are infinitely smaller and with attachments can be used to power your device off a USB port, a car's cigarette lighter, or A/C power.Of course if you need all of the international power adapters there's nothing wrong with this kit, though again I'd suggest there are more compact versions available. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Inferior product
I was forced to purchase this since it is the only product usable for hiking trails which can upload to my GPS unit. However my initial impression viewing the maps on the computer screen is very disappointing. At least in Big South Fork where I am planning a trip, the trails are very incomplete. The ones which are present are very difficult to see in dotted grey on a white back ground. They do not contrast well with the road (solid grey) and jeep trails (hatched grey) or the contour lines (brown). The only use of color is blue for streams.
Unless you have to purchase this for use with a Garmin GPS unit, I recommend DeLorme's Topo USA which gives you the same level of detail for the whole US for the same price as this one region. Plus you get more up to date trail information, much better legibility, vertical profiling, and 3-D views! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have for Vehicles with Coated Windshields, OnStar
My 2004 Buick Rendezvous has OnStar, Satellite Radio (XM), and a coated windshield. These factors prevented my new Garmin StreetPilot III from getting satellite reception. After talking to a few folks they recommended this item.As soon as I plugged it in using the roof mount I received great satellite reception- consistent and reliable reception.I have not lost a signal since.

5-0 out of 5 stars The #1 accessory for your in vehicle GPS
This also works with my GPS V, as the Garmin web site said it would, although Amazon(.com) does not mention that model, the connector is the same.
Whilst the increase in signal is not outstanding using the suction mount to the windshield, it is definetly noticeable. The stunning difference came using the magnetic mount on the car roof. I've been seeing almost constant 9ft '3d differential' accuracy, although on overcast days it is a little less consistent. The cable could be a -little- longer to allow more discreet routing, but it should certainly be adequate for most people. I toyed with the idea of buying this for a long time; it seemed a little (...) for 'just an antenna'. I'm definetly not disappointed - well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have Item!
The external antenna is essential for vehicle use.It allows the GPS to acquire more satellites faster and boosts the accuracy and reception in a huge way.It comes with a magnetic mounting, a suction cup mounting, and a screw-on mounting. It's a must have for any serious GPS user.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have.
I had my Garmin III GPS (talking street pilot) mounted on the dash of my Expedition and with its attached antenna I rarely could get (and then frequently would drop) enough satellites to give a good fix. After installing the external unit (10 minutes, no drilling!), I always had a good signal and never dropped it. Without this, the GPS is less than reliable inside your vehicle.

5-0 out of 5 stars A necessity for an automobile gps
What a great plus for anyone who uses their GPS for their car.I bought this antenna for my StreetPilot III.As I opened the box, I was surprised how small and compact it really is (about the size of a cell phone).I chose to use the suction cup method which took literally 30 seconds to assemble. It simply entailed taking off the antenna on the StreetPilot III and replacing it with the antenna and then screwing the antenna to the suction cup mount. Then I took the suction cup and mounted it first on my windshield. When it usually takes up to a minute to sufficiently aquire satellites, the antenna allowed me to aquire over six satellites within 15 seconds.I also suctioned it on to the side window with the same success.By the way, if you choose to mount it on the outside of the vehicle, it simply involves screwing the antenna to a magnet which magnetically sticks to the car. There is no screwing into the car itself! Also, it has enough cable to run wherever needed. This is a great product! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This review was written for the Magellan Meridian Swivel Mount Bracket not the Magellan Swivel Mounting Bracket 701258. Use the Magellan Meridian Swivel Mount Bracket for the Magellan Meridian COLOR GPS.

Got this Magellan Swivel Mount to use as a desktop cradle for my Meridian Color and it works perfectly.

The Power/Data cable connects onto the mount from the back and automatically connects to the GPSR when the receiver is snapped into place. You'll appreciate this after a few tries at attaching the connector by using it's teeny-tiny anchor screw.

Construction of the mount is sturdy and holds the receiver and connector securely. The mount is adjustable so that the GPSR screen is always in your line of sight either at eye level or from above (mounted on a horizontal surface) of from below (mounted on a wall). You will, however, have to provide your own Velcro or mounting screws since none comes with the unit.

Overall, terrific functionality for just a few extra dollars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lock it down with this one!
This bracket series for the Magellan Meridian's are the best I've seen for any portable device. You can insert and lock the GPS into the bracket with one hand - with a firm *CLICK* to let you know that it's secure.Removing it is a one-hand easy operation as well. And to top it all off -- the Magellan's DC power supply cable mounts to the bracket itself! So when you install your GPS into the bracket, it is automatically powered by your car or boat's electrical system..My old Magellan was never this easy to deal with, and it's bracket would spit out the unit when you hit any big bumps...

Get this swivel unit for the boat or any other location that you can mount it with screws or 2 sided tape.. Then get the suction cup version of the bracket for the car windshield mount... And then there's the "bicycle" mount to use on your bicycle or motorcycle (it works GREAT on my Honda Goldwing)... You guessed it - I have all three!!!

I love it when engineers do something right, and these brackets are great!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Imagine a cross between a walkie talkie and a Star Trek communicator, that's the best way to understand the Garmin's Rino 110. Not just a powerful GPS receiver, this two-way radio can even track your friends and transmit your location to others. These innovative features and low price makes it ideal whether hiking, hunting, playing paintball or just checking up on your kids.

  • 100 meters: Accuracy of the original GPS system, which was subject to accuracy degradation under the government-imposed Selective Availability (SA) program.
  • 15 meters: Typical GPS position accuracy without SA.
  • 3-5 meters: Typical differential GPS (DGPS) position accuracy.
  • Less than 3 meters: Typical WAAS position accuracy.
About the size of a small cordless phone, the bright-yellow and black Rino 110 has two fixed antennas coming out of the top. One antenna lets you talk at up to two miles using 14 FRS (Family Radio Service) channels. It also can communicate across 8 GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channels, offering up to 5 miles of range, though this requires an FCC license.

The other antenna offers the advanced WAAS-enabled GPS tracking you'd expect from Garmin (see chart at right). Using the large 160 x 160 pixel backlit display you can save up to 20 different routes and 500 waypoints in the unit's 1 MB of memory. Plus, in addition to the built-in cities database, you can even upload maps from Garmin's Points of Interest CD with an optional adapter.

The fun really starts when you combine these two features. The Rino can transmit its location to others at up to two miles and track up to 50 contacts simultaneously. So, for instance, you can display a map on the screen with the names and locations of all of your friends, or select a friend and have the Rino guide you to their location.

The Rino's graphical interface makes it easy to control its myriad functions with a 5-way cursor, similar to those found on laptop keyboards, which lets you move quickly across the menu screens. This waterproof device runs on 3 AAA batteries.

Once you use the Rino 110, it's hard to imagine purchasing a two-way radio without GPS functionality, the two features go so well together. --Ken Feinstein

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good.
It seems that you either love or hate the Rino 110 Frs/Gmrs/Gps. Before I bought mine, I had heard of some that used theirs in Iraq and loved them, and some that left them in the sand. But I must say that I love mine. I got it last week and have put it through a few paces, and so far it is great. It looks and feels solid...even before you put the batteries in, which give it a nice heft. The only problem that I have seen is the fact that when you use the GPS and GMRS radio at the same time, you can almost feel the alkaline batteries draining. But I fixed this when I went to 2300 mAh Ni-Mh batteries. As they say, it just keeps going and going. It is also nice (considering where I live in the Pacific Northwest) to not have to worry about getting it wet. And also not to have to carry both a GPS and separate radio. I also just bought the data cable (got it on ebay for only 3.25 FRNs!) so I can download all the latest software updates from Garmin. BTW, this little sucker is just a little bit complicated, but the menus are intuitive and the guide book well written.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great tool!! (in open areas)
The Rino works great when you are keeping track of your friends on a camping trip. In some open areas you can truly keep track of your friends from 1 to 2 miles away. However in urban, or even suburban areas the radio just isn't strong enough and you can expect about 3/10ths of a mile at best. Even so with the Rino Garmin did a quality job. WELL WORTH THE PRICE!!

5-0 out of 5 stars In the field
I am presently stationed in Iraq and our unit purchased dozens of the Rinos. My Rino has survived 145 degree temeratures, sand, grime water, and the other hardships that we find here and has never missed a beat.I feel good knowing I have it with me as we fly about the desolate terrain here. The accuracy is exceptional and it does an excellent job of tracking everyone operating another Rino.Yes, the radio is a bit weak, but if we rely on other systems for that.I can see no better value for the recreational GPS user than the Rino.If it's good enough for an Army aviation unit, I believe it's good enough for Joe Citizen out on the hiking trail. Can't wait to see what Garmin comes up with next (keep them ruggedized, pls!).

5-0 out of 5 stars Rhino in Iraq
OUTSTANDING to say the least.I carried a Rhino 110 for a year during operation Iraqi Freedom. It suffered more abuse in this year than any normal person would subject it to in 2 lifetimes. The radio performed well when other handheld radios failed from abuse and dirt. The GPS is user friendly and proved to be as accurate or more accurate than Army issue.I personally know at least 20 other soldiers who are using either Rhino 110s or 120s here who are equally satisfied with this piece of equipment. The only hiccup I have found so far is the unit will shut down from a sharp blow, but it will always power up again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice radio/gps for geocaching
Nice radio/gps for the price. I bought two of these radios and the position reporting feature is really neat. I also like the polling fearure which allows you to locate another radio without them sending their location. This of course must be enabled in the settings. Navigating through the menu is relatively easy. Reading the manual does help though. Range is as expected...I usually get at least 1 mile outdoors. Garmin also updates the software which you can download from their website which fix minor issues. You must buy the serial cable to do this. The unit is also waterproof, not just "water resistant". Battery life is about 15 hrs using the gps and radio at the same time. You can turn off the gps or radio if you want to use only one. I'm very happy with my purchase. These are good quality gps/radios. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Design flaw...
The Humminbird Piranha series is great, but it has a design flaw. The suction-cup mount forces the transducer to point in a single direction. Not good for a canoe without a transom. It always points off to one side of the canoe! The solution is a clamp-on transducer mount made by Tite-Lok which allows articulation in any desired direction. The best price I've found is at jandhproducts.comHappy fishing! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Garmin GPSMap 76 A Great Hand-Held Device
This is a great gps, especially for marine purposes.I searched around and researched before deciding on purchasing the gpsmap 76.I find the preloaded base maps to be very sufficient and fairly detailed. It's waterproof and submersible, what else could you ask for.The only downfall is that it's not colorized, but big deal. It's quite easy to see when you're standing in direct sunlight. This is one of the best gps devices out there for this price range. It's well worth every penny, and comes highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars list price isnt 400$
this makes no sence garmin says the list price for the gps map 76 is only 321$. I dont get about this is that the vista was released at the same time if not later than the gpsmap76 and The both have the same exact list price so why is the gps76 so much more expensive. Also eopinions says your sellin it for 199$

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Sea Kayaking Companion
Before my GPS purchase, I considered a number of Magellan units in addition to some in the Garmin E Trex series. I finallydecided on the Garmin Map76.

In addition to being relatively easy to use, I preferred the slightly larger screen of the Map76 over the other units.Since I was purchasing the unit to use while sea kayaking, I found the screen on the Map76 was much easier to read in the sunlight than the smaller screens on the E-Trex models. In addition, you can upload map data into this unit. (Although the unit includes a basemap, Garmin also manufactures a number of optional mapping products which cover roads, waterways and topographical features in more detail). For kayaking, I use the optional BlueCharts which is essentially like having Nautical maps at your fingertips.(These are sold by regions and tend to be a bit expensive however).

The tide station/prediction feature on the Map76 was also an important deciding factor. With this unit, you have the ability to get tidal predictions for virtually anywhere in the US at your fingertips.

The Map76 often receives criticism on the low amount of memory for uploading map data. The tradeoff however is that it also drains the battery power at a slower rate than those that boast more memory. (I also considered the GPS Map76S which has an added electronic compass and more memory, however after a trial use from a friend's, I found the Map76S unit to drain battery power far too quickly for my intended use. The Map76S was also about $100 more in cost). Although the Map76S was a slightly upgraded Map76, I didn't feel the extra features of the 76S were worth the added cost, especially with the faster rate of the battery drain.

I've logged over 500 miles of sea kayaking with this unit and am very satisfied with its performance. I find the memory capability in the Map76 is adequate for uploading maps for day trips and the balance with the battery drain is also sufficient.

Although it is waterproof, I highly suggest a transparent waterproof bag for using while kayaking to avoid salt water condensation corroding the battery leads.

Garmin also offers toll free phone and email technical support for their units and software.

This unit makes a great paddling partner.

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT
I JUST BOUGHT THE GPSMAP 76.THIS IS THE FIRST GPS ITEM I HAVE EVER OWENED.I BOUGHT IT FOR THE BOAT THAT I JUST BOUGHT SO I WILL ALWAYS KNOW WERE I AM IF I NEED HELP.THE DAY I BOUGHT IT MY DAUGHTER TURNED IT ON IN MY CAR.I WAS AMAZED THAT IT TRACKED MY CAR SPEED,LOCATION,AND DIRECTION,AMAZING.IT ALSO KEPT A RECORD OF OUT TRIP HOME,AVG SPEED,DISTANCE ETC,,,,,,,,,,,,,GREAT PRODUCT FOR AROUND [price].

4-0 out of 5 stars I'd buy it again, but gosh how about a little more RAM?
I love the screen, compared to the others. That is the most compelling feathure. The Mapsource info was more detailed than I expected. Tracked correctly on an old Georgia logging road I hunt from. I didn't expect it to be there. I did find some signal loss in deep woods though, the Lorance seems to have a better antenna if that is a problem for you. My dropouts were more momentary than extended though.
Battery life was as advertised about 12 hrs, bonus that's using ONLY 2 AA batteries. I used the light on screen as little as possible though.
Has all the features most could want. My understanding is WAAS is very limited at this time, DOD will shoot some more birds up in the future, but don't count on it for now. I used this in FLA, GA, Wash state, Lower Alberta and BC provinces and was satisfied overall w/ basemaps and reception... but never got WAAS. P.S. I would not trust basemap to navigate by (e.g. boat in fog). Resolution not enuf; happily it erred in my favor, said I was on land long before I could hit the rocks. Have to buy addin Topo USA (Canada) maps. Mapping/topo gps is wonderful, compared to nonmapping. I used the grids to find a draw that deer would likely use.

Interestingly, Garmin calls this a maritime unit, but depending what maps you download, it's not an issue if you are a landlubber. I downloaded a four county region near Tampa, and much of N. Georgia to the unit before running out of memory. I wanted to do Tenn. and NC appalacian Mtns, but not enuf room.

The floating part and general light weight is great feature. I think it is easier than some competitors.

Be sure to go to Garmin website and download: Firmware upgrade, Maritime map database (if u use downloadable maps, it can wipe out the base maritime maps, but u can upload again w/ this file) and finally, if u buy topousa or other set, get any updates there too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best AM CB out there!
There are a lot of CB radios out there and the Cobra 29 LTD Classic has stood the test of time.It comes with the traditional chrome detailed brushed aluminum faceplate that really shows off this radio. But the true quality is in the radio itself.I have owned plenty of CBs in the past 30 years including some top-end AM/sideband CBs as well as a few export radios, and as far as a straight AM 40 channel CBs, this is one that really shines above the others. The most impressive features in this radio are its sensitivity in receiving, even while the Noise-Blanker and/or Automatic Noise Limmiter circuits are engaged. And these circuits actually eliminate static and engine-generated noise...unlike some other radios.Overall, the 29LTD Classic is perhaps the best inexpensive AM CB out there! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
The bracket is almost perfect.I say 'almost' because while it does absolutely everything it should, getting the SportTrak in and out of the bracket is a little bothersome. You have to thread the wrist cord through the little hole you see in the back of the bracket.I don't even want to think what it would be like with a vehicle powercord adapter.

On the plus side, you really can place the bracket anywhere on your windshield. This means you can adjust the GPS for optimum viewing and a minimum of visibility interference.

As far as the GPS performance while in the bracket, I have noticed no degredation of reception, in fact placing it so close to the windshield probably helps it receive satellites.

I would say that if you use your SportTrak while in the car, this is a definate good buy.My one quibble with the cord should not deter you from buying the bracket, just keep it in mind.

Hope that helps. ... Read more
