This item is such a great value.Everything included is a basic necessity.For anyone interested in getting into boxing, I suggest this set as your first purchase

Great training aid
This set includes the speed bag and mounting platform, speed bag training gloves, hand wraps, and a jump rope. I'm mainly a karate and kung-fu student and teacher, but I've done some boxing too, and one of the best exercises you can learn to enhance speed and agility is the classic boxing workout on the speed bag. More martial artists should use this great training tool. I never got to the point where I could mix in things like elbow strikes and head butts in-between punches like the real experts, but I got pretty good just hitting it with straight punches and back hammerfists and could really get it going that way. If you're going to try this, keep your shoulders loose and try to hit with proper rhythm and timing--those are the key elements. Don't try to go real hard and fast in the beginning, as you'll only be able to hit it once or twice before you miss. Start slow and build up from there. Altogether a great training for martial artists of all styles and stripes.

The jump rope is a nice extra although perhaps not as essential for karate students. That's because a boxer is poised on the balls of his feet, and his most powerful punch is the hook, which travels in an arc. A karate thrust punch is just the opposite. Karateists punch flat-footed and the punch is from the hips and travels in a straight line, so the karateist isn't always bouncing around on the balls of his feet like a boxer. He's more likely to shift stances and move only when necessary to adjust distance, although that depends on the individual fighter, too.

Good stand, previous review is right about weights
The previous review is absolultely correct about the weights.If you don't have weights on the legs the stand it will, in fact fly about your basement.

I'd also recommend a double-ended bag (i.e., with a D-ring on the bottom of the bag).It decreases bag-sway.I'm just using 2 bungee cords to tie it down to the stand but that seems to work out pretty well (instead of a proper Shock Cord).Very helpful for practicing kicks.

On top of the weights, I've also added 2 40-lb bags of water-softening salt on the front-legs for even more stability.There's nothing special about that kind of salt, I just happened to have them around.It looks a little Rube Goldberg, but for the price I'm willing to live with it.

The speed-bag stand is nice.Loud, but nice.

Good product, but buy some weights if you're a heavyweight..
I ordered the 4790 heavy bag stand recently.I have limited boxing experience, but I'm not brand new to the sport.I'm a 215 pound heavyweight, and before I put weights on this stand to hold it down, I was bouncing it all over my basement with an 80 pound bag attached.Just add the weights and this is a great stand.
A REAL plus to this stand is that the legs are nice and wide, and don't protrude too far out. This allows for some great movement with the bag, and gives a good chance to work on footwork and body movement in your bag workouts.

The box had clearly been opened previously. Brown packaging tape was wrapped around both ends of the box (rather poorly I might add). The box itself looked like it had been air-shipped and dropped from the cargo plane directly to my front porch.

When I opened the box, there was no protective plastic bag. The Everlast bag was covered with dust. The handle on the zipper at the top of the bag was broken. The chain came in a bag tied closed with pink ribbon. This product was clearly a return, with no effort on Everlast's part to ensure its quality before sending it to the next person.

So far the only real issue with the bag is the broken zipper, everything else is aesthetic, so I have not been inclined to incur the hassle and cost of returning it (which I'm sure Everlast was counting on). The 1 star rating is really for Everlast. ... Read more
