5-0 out of 5 stars If I had to choose...
If I were stranded on a desert island with only one cooking utensil allowed, it would be a very hard choice between my Wusthof chefs' knife and the Lodge Dutch oven. I cannot begin to describe the versatility of this pot without sounding like an ad. Suffice it to say that it never leaves my stove top, except when I put it in the oven. Browning, braising, stewing...whatever, this is my weapon of choice more often than not (and I have a decent selection of pots and pans). Add to that the fact that abusing it on campfires only makes it better and what is left to say? As far as I'm concerned, a cast iron Dutch oven is the most utterly useful kitchen pot ever devised, and my kids aren't getting mine until I'm totally non compos mentis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Your Lodge will outlive you!
Cast Iron is ALWAYS a good value for the money and it's indestructable (I'm still using my mother's Lodge skillet that she got for a wedding gift in 1954). This dutch oven goes from the table to the campground with ease. It stews and bakes beautifully - get a dutch oven cookbook and learn how to make campfire biscuits as well as those stews and chilis at home! Cast Iron still manages to look dressy on a table and you can tote it from your stove to the church potluck! Also makes a fabulous wedding, shower, or housewarming gift. Forget expensive wedding registries - buy the bride this Lodge Dutch Oven andLodge Cast Iron Skillet. She'll hand them down to the next generation. Also great for those kids who just moved into their first apartment - they'll never destroy THIS piece of cookware no matter what they burn! A must have for EVERY cook.

5-0 out of 5 stars any crockpot!!!
Just cooked my first of hopefully hundreds..thousand of dishes in this beauty.. I made lamb chop stew. I cooked it for 2 hours but it tasted like all day simmering stew. When my husband first saw the pot he sarcastically made some remark about medieval times..but when he saw and tasted the stew..he apologized!!
I usually make very tasty dishes but something about cast iron...
I am buying nothing but iron from now on..I'm hooked.
This pot is roomy and has high dimensions. It does come preseasoned and is pitch black, not shiny though..the way a well seasoned iron should look, but that comes with time. I re-seasoned mine just for the shine. For those of you who don't cook in cast iron you do not know what you are missing!!!
Forgot to metion what a wonderful deep fryer this oven makes!! Talk about crispy/juicy fried chicken..Perfect, just make sure you give it ample time to heat up and your'e good to go! no more POPEYES!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite piece of cookware
This versatile piece performs perfectly for all the dishes we New Englanders make to keep us warm in the winter: pot roast, soups, stews, chili, you name it. The lid fits nice and tight, so oven-braised dishes turn out beautifully. Its even heating and amazing heat retention allow for perfect stovetop simmering over long periods on very low heat. Like any cast iron, it's heavy, though the well-designed handle makes the pot easier to wield. If you don't require the chic looks of an expensive Le Crueset french oven, save yourself some cash -- this one perfoms just as well at a fraction of the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Staple Cookware Item of Any True Cook
Getting in the kitchen, and cooking is very popular these days. Especially with the advent of cable, and the plethora of channels showing cooking, and food travel (i.e. Food Network, Travel Channel, PBS, etc.,) people not only want to try cooking new things, but desire having the latest greatest cooking utensils. With that said, you can not possibly consider your kitchenware complete without at least a basic cast iron dutch oven, an iron skillet, and a cast iron fryer.

I don't care how much you paid for your caphalon, all-clad, anolon, or scan pan... NOTHING DUPLICATES CAST IRONS HEAT RETENTION AND DISPERSMENT QUALITIES!Some things like browning beef for chili, frying good old fashion chicken or catfish can be done with other cookware, but not even close to the same taste or appearance.

It use to be that cast iron was too much of a pain, due to the long tedious seasoning process. Logde Logic has not only done that for you, but whatever process they use, makes it work like nonstick, and cleans up with hot water and a nylon brush.

Cheap, Free shipping, and easily the best cookware you will buy, no matter what big names you have in the kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for sports use...
These binoculars are nice and small, which make them perfect for tossing in a pocket on the way to a game or in a carry-on bag.I've been using them at racetracks across America, where it's imperative to be able to see a good 1000 yards, especially at Belmont Park, which has the widest track in North America. Not only do these glasses make it easy to distinguish saddlecloth colors and numbers on the backstretch going into the far turn, but I can often even make out whether or not a horse's ears are pricked.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good compact binoculars
The real value of this binocular is because it is so compact. It could fit into your pant pocket and still give you a useful tool. It has 12x magnification and the image is quite good compared to other binoculars in the same price range. It also has a rugged look and feel with a nice rubber casing.

The only problems that I find with the binocular is that 12x is a bit too unsteady to hold with your hands. So I find myself leaning on a nearby support in an attempt to keep the view from shaking. Also due to the small objective lens of the binocular, the view at night is not as bright as it could be (on comparing with a binocular with a 50mm objective lens). These are not really problems of this binocular but are limitations due to its size and magnification.

In short these are quite impressive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Bang for your Buck!
I purchased these for hunting and birdwatching. For the price they are wonderful. They are small compact but have great viewing ability.I would difinately recommend them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Binoculars, Great Price
I purchased these binoculars to bring to concerts and plays. The size was perfect for my small evening purse, but I didn't realize just how well they worked. Wish that I would have owned them when I was sitting in the upper stratosphere at the Celine Dion concert in Las Vegas. They go with me to every event now to ensure a "good" seat every time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great binoculars in a small package
These binoculars are much smaller than my other 16x Bushnells, but surprisingly are comparable in quality. The greatest advantage of having small binoculars is that they are portable, and lightweight. One would expect to loose a lot of quality compared to larger ones, considering these advantages. But to my surprise, that trade-off was worth it.
Bottom line, lower price, higher portability, much lighter in weight make these binoculars a winner in its category. ... Read more

About Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, Chairman of the Board, and her son, Tim Boyle, President and CEO, lead the company. Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60 year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign. In 1998 the company went public, and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wok Heaven!
This makes Wok cooking fun!

I've cooked ok with a (heavy flat bottomed cast iron) wok for years on my electric range and yearned for a gas source, then cookeda bit better with round bottom woks and the "ringstand" on some friends 12,000 BTU stove/range top burners too, then saw this on Amazon resembling the wok burner style I'd seen often in use at around Thailand, and bought it...

Well, the unit arrived quickly, it quickly bolted solidly together, and I found that it's built Rock Steady; a 250# person couldsit supported on it's 3 sturdy legs and superwide feet and not wobble it. It comes with a safety and recipe video as well.

The heat output ranges frommild to tremendous at 55,000 BTU's, and after firing it up and cooking a few meals in one fourth the time as before, I can now say this IS just like many of the sturdy roadside stand woks used in Thailand on a daily as this as "The really right stuff for great wok cookery!"

My unit arrived with some incidental damage suffered in shipping, and the company quickly sent replacement parts and more, making me a very happy customer !

Only "problem", I'mnow "mothballing" my faithful flat bottomed wok to the closet, as a round bottomed 16" carbon steel wok and the Big Kahuna burner have taken it's place!

This is the best best product and service I've had in years, so I can recommend it as a "10" on any "1-10" scale, as the company goes beyond what most companies do in their superb service, and in "overengineering" this to be a safe, sturdy and first rate wok burner!

This is Wok Heaven!

4-0 out of 5 stars better than expected
At first I was looking for an indoor portable gas range but the most powerful I could find was 17,000 btu. In addition I would have to afix some kind of wok support if I wanted to cook one-handed. As a stanch charcoal supporter I avoided gas and even tried putting my wok directly on charcoal. This worked OK but required that I constantly blew on the coals just to keep them barely hot enough. In addition the cost of using charcoal seemed higher, so I looked at the Big Kahuna.

I was worried I wouldn't actually go outside to cook on the Kahuna but I was wrong. I haven't even attempted to cook Chinese food indoors since I got this thing because the food comes out so much better. I always used to be unsatisfied with how my beef came out when I cooked indoors. No matter what cut of beef I used it always came out very chewy. Now chicken, beef, and pork come out amazingly tender. The burner is so hot I can even give food a blackened sear like on an a grill. It looks and sounds like a jet engine is blasting the bottom of my wok with this thing.

Clean up is easier than indoors because I can just boil water from the hose and scub with a wok brush (handles heat better than plastic brushes) while it is over a medium flame.

The one issue I seem to encounter, however, is that the flame from the burner seems to be stronger on one side so that my 14" wok is hot further up the wall on one side. I am not sure yet whether this is due to a light breeze or a faulty burner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big Kahuna is Awesome !!!
If you want to be able to cook authentic chinese food, especially stir fry, you must have a very hot wok.Even with a good quality 15,000 btu burner on your stovetop, it's still not enough to get and keep a wok nice and hot.If you ever look in the kitchen of a chinese restaurant, they have a huge industrial wok stove with huge burners. The Big Kahuna is like having an industrial burner at your fingertips. No more liquid buildup when cooking meat because it evaporates with the Big Kahuna. No more runny sauces because the high heat carmelizes the sauce to the food.Even deep frying is easy, because the oil never cools down.I did a batch of won tons twice as fast as normal, because I had a bigger wok and didn't have to wait around for the oil to heat back up.Eastman Outdoors also has great customer service. When I originally got the kahuna, the burner wasn't igniting completely.I called the company, and they shipped a new burner to me fast, and I put in on in a snap. I didn't even have to prove the purchase or anything. They just took my name and address and shipped it to me.I'm very pleased with the Big Kahuna, and even with the defect, the company made right on it and fast.If you want a quality burner designed for a wok, this is it, and what a great price!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent Burner
If you want tender meat and fast cooking. This is the one!
It extremely hot that you cannot even dream of in residential burners.
A bit too big for small pots or pans.
Best for stir fried food.
I would definately recommend this burner if you love to cook.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Flashlight Ever
I have owned this flashlight for over 20 years. It is the most dependable light ever.It was given to my dad from the police chief of our city.I now live in his house and it hangs on the wall next to the door always charged and ready. If there is ever a blackout, you know right where it is and you know it is ready. We all reach for it several times a day.I just bought a new one to put at my other door.It is dependable and sturdy and can be used as a weapon if needed.Best light I have ever owned. You will wonder how you ever got along without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE light!!!
I have been a home inspector for 19 years.About 14 years ago, I bought a mag rechargeable. In all of those years of crawling under hundreds of houses, banging that light against rocks, floor joists, and in one case, an agitated field RAT, this thing has NEVER failed me.
I am looking at buying a second one, and only my FOURTH battery after ALL of those years!!! One of the reasons for buying another one is that the switch finally failed, and I REFUSE to use a 'lesser' light while I am having this one repaired. The times that I have had to use my backup regular flashlight (a pretty decent rayovac roughneck), it has been like being 'blind' under a house! The pure BRIGHTNESS is amazing! The spot focus on this light is very precise, though I have found that some bulbs focus better than others.
These things are also TOUGH...I have dropped mine a couple of DOZEN times onto concrete and asphalt (yep!!! I am clumsy!)And that WILL sometimes kill a bulb..But the flashlight is almost indestructible! If you could just SEE how battered and scarred this thing IS, you wouldn't believe it still works!
You will NOT be disappointed in this flashlight! It is the BEST investment that I have made in equipment EVER!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Safety for Women
This will be the second one I've owned. The first one I had for 10 years and left on a bus, by accident. It is the best deterrent one could hope for. When your carrying it like a cop with your hand at the lamp ready to flash it in someones face to stun them with the light, pop them on the forehead to get their attention, or knock them to the ground using it like a baseball bat.Men look at you very differently, a bit scared and not cat calling and blowing you kisses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brighter than standard Surefires
This lights put out about 200 lumens, it is much brighter than any of the Surefire 2 cell lights such as the E2E, etc (which start out at 60 lumens and then drops off as you use them). It also doesn't eat expensive lithium batteries (at anywhere from 1.50 to 4 bucks PER battery). Surefire makes 3 and 4 cell and even 6 cell (lithium) which are brighter, but again you're feeding them expensive lithium cells.

Of course, this is an old technology light that is as big as a club and heavy, BUT IT'S BRIGHT and runs for 2 HOURS on a charge (by then you would have spent 10-20 bucks on batteries feeding a Surefire). The new Magchargers have a spare bulb in the tail, and are much brighter than any of the alkaline D cell maglites (those are all very dim, or get dim after half an hour). It's a great general purpose light, you just can't put it in your pocket.

1-0 out of 5 stars A piece of you know what!
I wanted a Mag rechargeable flashlight for some time, but just could not justify the expense. Well, I finally bought it, and what a dissappointment. I will say , it is an excellent flashlight WHEN IT WORKS. I got all of 5 minutes out of it when I first used it. I diagnosed the problem as a failed bulb, as I could clearly see the filament was broken. I ordered a replacement which was NOT CHEAP. It too lasted 5 minutes, and yes, I know enought not to touch the bulb with my bare fingers while installing. Bought two more bulbs next time around, and you guessed it, about 5 minutes use for each. So, all totaled about $125 for 20 minutes of light. Run from this deal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent knife that lasts
Swiss army knives are an excellent investment. Victorinox is known for its reliability, durability and usefullness, and this knife is one of the best. There are so many tools here that you just can't go wrong with it.

Victorinox knives are a great gift for men. I think women would like this too, once they see how useful it is (there are various other Victorinox knives for every type of taste). Your friends will be impressed when they see your super-utile tool. This knife is worth every penny (it's the cost of a few movie and restaurant outings after all), and make sure you keep it with you whenever you go camping, around the house, in the car, or anywhere. Having this Victorinox knife is like having a whole toolshed in a small, compact, portable, and elegant package. There are two main blades, a long one and a small one. Then there are the very useful scissors, which work very well. There's a little saw, an awl, a corkscrew, a fish scaler with doubles as a small ruler, and even a magnifying lense. There's also a really cool little pen. There are screw drivers and can openers, and much more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Knife
I have owned several Swiss Champs over the years. I have uesed the saw to cut 2x4s on many ocassions and have cut down trees up to four inches in diamater. I have used the file to cut barbed wire on ocassions . I find it very handy. I find the pliers rather small but I have had many uses it for.I use the siscors mostly for cutting small ropes .It is the best pocket knife that I ever used .I used on a farm and used it to do many small repairs jobs on the farm . I no longer live on a farm but I still use the knife every day.

5-0 out of 5 stars adaptable Belt pocket?
I want to know if there is any poket that I can put on my belt for this knife??

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply, the best there is
You can't go wrong with the Champ in your pocket. Owned mine for a good 9 years and is still serves me well since the day I bought it. I even brought it with me when I did volunteer work and never failed me, not even when I used it to hammer some nails onto plywood. Now for the "other" camp, the LEATHERMEN'scamp, sure, the Champ's pliers aren't beefy enough for some jobs but along with a good pair of Craftsman or Snap-on pliers and my trusty knife, I'm pretty sure things will be fine.

Besides, how many stories have you heard of a guy using a Leatherman to perform a tracheotomy on a choking child on a plane? I'm sure you haven't. But a Swiss Army knife did, right?

5-0 out of 5 stars Good but big.
As you can see, this knife has many many tools. However, calling it a pocket-knife is a little misleading. It is a bit big to fit comfortably in a jeans pocket.Buy the sheath that is made for it and wear it on your belt. The sheath also has a pencil, sharpener, compas/ruler, matches, signal mirror, string, safety pin and more. When I've worn mine, the sheath has come in almost as handy as the knife. If you want one that fits in a pocket a little better, try the Delux Tinkerer, has a lot of the tools that I found useful. The victorinox knives are all great quality, withstand abuse, and the tools open and close very smoothly. For heavy-duty cutting, though, I'd look for one with a locking blade, such Victorinox's version of the leatherman.

This knife also comes or at least used to come in black. That's a really nice look and not as common as the red. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product terribile packaging
I own many excellent Lodge products and have purchased many of them from Amazon with good results. However, this is one item you do not want to order over the web. This dutch oven is poorly packaged and has arrived with a broken handle TWICE! The first shipmet was shipped in the lodge box and the image of the product was completely worn off the box from the rough handling. The replacement shipment was inside a box from Amazon that was twice as large but it was almost completely broken apart when it was received because there was too few airbags yo keep the lodge box from shifting around durind shipment, after two damaged shipments I requested a refund. If you are looking for a 7 quart Dutch Oven, I suggest the 7 quart lodge with the loop handle it shouldn't be damaged during shipment. Lodge has great products and I have had very many excellent transactions through Amazon, however if you order this product chances are at best 50/50 it will arrive damaged,(in my case 100%)the item is too heavy for the packaging. Save yourself the aggravation of sending it back and order the Lodge 7 quart with loop handle.

1-0 out of 5 stars Broken
The item came in completely broken due to poor packaging by the company. There is absolutely nothing to protect the handles (which were broken off) and the lid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the style
Love the design, but think this new thinner line of Lodge products may not be as good as the regular finish which is thicker and like the piece that my elders have passed down to me, which have been on many a cattle round up, camping trip or home table. Their new enamel line I love.I own so many Lodge products and love the new Enamel Dutch Oven, in Patriot Red, and the 5 quart size which are better in my opinion than the French Le Creuset and Emile Henry pieces that I own.And its great to be able to buy 'American Made'.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product...poor product packaging
This product is too poorly packaged by the company to ship anywhere. The pot weighs over 17lbs but only had one thin pad protecting the lid and one small plastic air bubble for pot padding. The product box had 2 holes in it from the handles punching through and part of the pre-seasoning was worn off by the lid scraping against the top of the pot. This will be a gift and even the picture of the pot on the outside of the box was worn off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not quite the usual Lodge standard
I've owned several other Lodge products, both natural finish and preseasoned. When possible, I've usually been willing to spend and extra buck or two to get the preseasoned version of a cookware, because they've been worth it.The preseasoned cast iron cookware comes pitch black, like someone has cooked 200 pounds of bacon in it.However, something is amiss with this 7qt Dutch Oven - it didn't meet my expectation of what a Lodge preseason cookware usually is.

When I got this Dutch Oven from Amazon, I was a bit shocked to find the finish was dark gray, instead of the deep black of evry other Lodge preseasoned item I own.But there were patches near the handle and rim of deep black coating. It seemed like something went wrong during the preseasoning process and that the coating had almost completely peeled off, leaving tiny remnants. There were several small pits on the lid as well. And the inside of the pot felt rough, not smooth like my other Lodge pans.

Amazon did not want the pot back and were nice enough to give me a refund without return. So I called up Lodge to see what was up.They have an incredibly friendly customer assistance team. They even returned my calls and remembered my name when I called them back.Lodge sent me a replacement dutch oven without any hassle.

Unfortunately, the second Dutch Oven looked just like the first.Maybe it was from the same batch, but it just seems like Lodge isn't doing a good job of quality control with this particular item. There was also a half pound difference between the two pots; perhaps this is normal. In addition, the replacement pot had a broken handle.

Having gotten the pot for free, I decided to try it out.But first I washed the pot and seasoned it properly myself!I melted some Crisco, rubbed the entire pot and lid (inside and out) with a LIGHT coating, and placed it upside down in a 425 oven for 1.5 hours (put some foil on the bottom to catch the drips).I turned the oven off and let the pot cool in the oven (otherwise it can crack). Then I repeated the procedure twice. Now I finally had a nice deep black pot!Plus, the inside of the pot had actually become smooth as well!

Due to the enormous size of the pot (12" wide and 16 pounds), the walls seem thinner than the smaller size dutch ovens. So the pot doesn't seem to heat as evenly as Lodge's other products. But perhaps it has something to do with my burners not being large enough for this big pot.

Despite the faults, I actually do like this Dutch Oven.It has always browned meats well and is absolutely perfect for braising on the stovetop or the oven. There's almost no leakage of steam from the lid, so you don't have to worry about adding water during long sessions in the oven. The inside of the lid is different from Lodge's other lids:There are concentric raised rings, as opposed to the spikes on the other models.I like the rings better since it makes the lid easier to clean and season, but it might be less efficient at keeping the food moist.I wouldn't worry about it.I do like the more modern style of the Pro Logic series.

So, if you find this cheap enough (I got mine for thirty-seven bucks), get it and season it yourself.Don't bother paying a premium over the non-seasoned model. But there's also another line of preseasoned Lodge cookware that's not Pro Logic.I've seen that line's Dutch Oven at the stores and it seems to be properly seasoned.

Lodge is still a much better deal than other manufacturers, specially for Dutch Ovens.Ultimately, this is still a good product and will get the job done. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little pan
There is NOTHING like this for making cornbread.I would never go back to making cornbread the way I used to ( glass pans or muffin tins) before I bought this pan.I always wondered why my cornbread didn't come out right. Now I know!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lodge is immortal!
I'm still using the Lodge Cast Iron Skillet that my mother got for a wedding present in 1954! I give this pre-seasoned version as wedding gifts, housewarming gifts, and to those kids stepping out into their own apartments. Cast Iron is ALWAYS a superior value for the money, and this pre-seasoned version takes the hassle out of "getting it ready to use." Forget expensive wedding registries - buy the bride a Lodge Cast Iron Skillet and Dutch Oven! She'll hand it down to the next generation. A must have for EVERY kitchen

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Little Fry Pan for One
I cook for myself, so this little skillet is the perfect size for 3-egg omelet in the morning, or veggie saute for dinner. I am a small to medium sized female w/ skinny arms, but this skillet is not too heavy so I can still lift it w/ one arm. It's not really non-stick because the eggs won't easily slide off the pan like they would from a good new non-stick pan, but it's much much better compared w/ my stainless steel skillets. As long as you soak the pan in water after cooking, by the time you finish your meal, the food residue can be easily washed off with a brush or sponge. I use a nylon dish brush with hot water and cleaning is very fast and easy. I never use soap or steel wool. Leaving a bit grease on acts like re-seasoning. This is the same way I take care of my carbon-steel wok. The only complaint I have is that the handle is way too short. The skillet is relatively heavy but even with my small hands it still feels as if the handle only fits half of my palm, so it forces your hand to hold it really close to the hot pan - really bad design. Though I use it everyday and find it indispensable, the short handle alone is why I am unwilling to give it a five star rating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, preseasoned cast iron!
Boy am I glad that I found these here on Amazon.I just love the taste of food cooked in cast iron but absolutely hate taking care of it.My first set rusted on me since I was clueless and now, well, I don't have to worry as much! The preseasoning is just wonderful and cleanup is just a snap. You can't use soap on these pans, just hot water and a soft brush. You can even spray with Pam instead of rubbing on oil if you'd like. What a great idea - now I just wish they'd compete with Le Creuset and make the porcelain-covered cast iron. That would just be perfect! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars NICE but missing
This tent was great for the money, we haven't slept in it, but I put it up (female) by myself ( never put a tent up before) in about 30 minutes give or take a few.IT was easy. The ONLY thing so far is the windows are missing. The entire tent is mesh / net. Then when you put the rain fly over it, it closes the net, privacy. So either you are public to the world, no covering but net, or covered, no window's except the door. The door does open and close with net or without.BIG opening,I"ll write more when I sleep in it tonight.

5-0 out of 5 stars A big hit!
I can finally get my 8 year old to go to sleepover parties thanks to this sleeping bag. It's much more comfortable than sleeping on the hard floor.I wish they came in larger sizes, but it's such a big hit, I think I'll buy my younger daughter one for camping this summer. The pillow and the outside is soft and fleecy, and my daughter says that she slept great in it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute Sleeping Bag...
This is a darling idea to have the air-mattress and pump with the sleeping bag...(The mattress inflates in just over one minute) Bag is cute and well worth the price....I do wish that the zipper went further the side to the bottom as would be less confining as grandaughter likes to "kick off covers"...also the attached sheeting that is next to vinyl air-mattress would be nicer if it was flannel or fleece (like the outside cover, so child doesn't get sweaty.(I put a piece of crib mattress pad on air-mattress with velcro...and it works great...and deflated bag still rolls up tightly to fit in carrying case...) ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Nice pan, terrible delivery time
These guys are terrible. I ordered my pan Dec 11 and although they appear to have this in stock (I can reorder it and get it a couple of days??), I have been told that I may not get the pan until February!! I was not notified until 2 days before Christmas.

Finally received the pan 01/11/2005. ONE MONTH after I ordered it.

5-0 out of 5 stars what a beauty!
pan- seared a WHOLE chicken oven roaster in this skillet yesterday and what a beautiful crust it gave that bird!!! Not with any other pan EVER did I get such results. Then I transferred it to the oven, unlike before I would have to transfer into another long baking dish... the chicken would never stay intact and I would have more dirty dishes to wash!
It was soooooooo delicious! We ate from it till we coldn't eat no more!
I anticipate cooking in this one everyday.
This skillet is very generous and I did buy the lid for it, that's another story/review..what another great peice to have after you season that big ol' lid(comes unseasoned). Helper handle is a must cause it's impossible to carry this skillet with one handle(very heavy alone so with food it weighs a ton!), be careful always to cover the handle after the iron gets hot...ouch!
I gotta say I don't know how the heck I was living without cast iron. It did take me a while to get a hang of the seasoning process because even with those preseasoned peices you still really gotta season it yourself to get that non-stick and glossy surface. So after a few episodes of pooling of seasoning andand trying out different kinds of shortenings and oils and smoke detectors going off, I finally found my own method...I hope you find yours. It's very simple though like I said once you get the hang of it, and the iron just keeps getting better and better and darker and darker. I threw all my non-stick out after all of them warped...and the crazy thing about it is that they were top-of-the-line...triple the cost of iron. I bought them from Macy's, Bloomingdale's ...expensive..make a long story short.
I love this pot and with some TLC you will love it too and perhaps give it to someone you really, really, really love after 30 years or so!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Skillet ever
I purchased this skillet after I recieved the 15inch Lodge Skillet and was shocked by the size. This one is perfect! Not too big, not too small, absolutely PERFECT!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this item!!!
I can't say enough good things about the pre-seasoned cast iron.It is especially helpful to people who are new to using cast iron. This is a big skillet and the only drawback is the weight, it is VERY heavy.Once you get used to using cast iron and find out how it retains heat and cooks great, you will love it.I find that cleanup is easy too. After you are done cooking (while it is still hot), fill it half full with water and leave it on the still warm burner & the food will basically cook itself off.If necessary use a brush to loosen anything left on the pan, rinse with hot water (do NOT use soap)and dry. While the pan is still warm from the hot water, smooth a thin layer of shortening over it and wipe off excess with a paper towel. If the pan is still too hot to use my fingers, I use a small toothbrush and rub the shortening on with it.If you are cooking for less than four people, buy the smaller size skillet. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!
I bought this inexpensive pot along with a piece of calphalon.I must say, I like the cast iron better! What a great pot, the size is perfect for those quick prepackaged items us working moms make like rice-a-roni, hamburger helper and scalloped potatoes.Yes its heavy, but it's easy to clean and I just leave it sitting my stove. It takes a little to get used to the proper cooking temperatures, so be careful. Also, I would advise getting the tiny handle cover, because the handle does get very hot.I make my daughter home-made chicken tenders at least once a week, and they came out the best ever using this pot.Prior to this I had been using calphalon and it doesn't make the chicken near as crisp and perfect.Love it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Real measurements of the pan
Well, no complaints exactly -- it's what I ordered and wanted -- but be aware of the exact dimensions of the pan. Though measured across the top the diameter of the pan is accurately 10 1/4 in., the sides slope in making the cooking surface a measly 8 in. -- kinda small of you're thinking of frying in larger batches.

I was also hoping to double this deep fryer as a frying pan (I saw the higher sides as a bonus, lessening grease splatter), but again the small 8 in. cooking surface limits what I can make ie. too small for bacon. Apparently, Lodge makes a larger fryer -- a 5qt 12" sucker -- that might be a better choice for a family, but alas, not available (currently) on Amazon.

Otherwise, a great pan, substantial and well made. The lid is a great bonus to have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bargain of bargains
This big hunk of iron is one of the greatest things in my kitchen. It's great for frying chicken (as you might expect). But it's also wonderful for frying anything else you can imagine (it never lets me down with catfish), making pralines, cooking cornbread, making a mess of jambalaya, any sort of soup that strikes your fancy, or, well, you get the point.

Care is easy, easy, easy--especially if you re-season the skillet on a yearly basis.

You'll keep this pan for at least a decade--which means that you'll pro-rate the cost down to well under a penny a day.Can you beat that? No, really, if you can, I want to know about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with cast iron!
I've been gradually buying cast iron pieces to add to my cookware. I grew up using cast iron, but did not have any in my own kitchen as an adult. This is a really nice pan, great for frying chicken as the name suggests but is also handy for many other cooking applications. Love the nice high sides and cleans up great. Would recommend to anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Staple Cookware Item of Any True Cook
I flat out love this fryer.I purchased it to replace one of those fancy electric deep fryers. By doing so, I've saved counter space, because this fryer sits on your stove and can be stored permanently on the back of your stove full of grease with the cover on it. It will heat grease fast, and because its cast iron there is an exceptional taste difference in everything you fry. Also, you can use it as a regular pot. If you are assembling just the basics or a dream kitchen, a cast iron Skillet, Grill, and Fryer are a must have. There is no replacement item, or substitute for certain things you cook. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Kids Tent! A+
We purchased this tent for our 2 children to tent with us and set it up, and was impressed! It was our first Columbia tent, and I will buy Columbia products from now on! It has a nice rain-fly, air circulates very well, and sets up very quick with 2 adults. Just so that you know, you do not need a 'degree' to set it just needs 2 adults, one to hold or assist the other while poles are going up!Easy instructions! The only downfall, because I am new at this, the floor is nice, but is not as heavy/durable as the Bugaboo Dome, or Black Mountain tents. With this tent, you should place a tarp on the ground under it, so that you wouldn't risk a punture in the floor. It is extrememly dry (for rain) Great tent for the price! ... Read more

Product Description

The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. A perfect pot for cooking baked beans, beef stew, or pulled barbeque. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Versatile!!!
This is a great pot -- so great in fact that within a half hour of its delivery, I was ordering a second from Amazon.

Think of it as: a two quart Dutch Oven; an 8 inch wide, three inch (almost) tall skillet WITH LID; a braising pan for a couple of chicken breasts; a sauce pan; a casserole dish.

This is a lot of pot, especially for the price!

I'd given up on cast iron because I could never seem to get and keep the iron seasoned. But Lodge's new preseasoning solves my problem -- I'm now replacing all my cookware with Lodge Logic (the fact it's an American company makes me even happier).THANKS, Lodge!

5-0 out of 5 stars It gets the job done with finesse
My favorite use for this little guy is to make rice over the firepit and then dump a can of soup in. It fills you right up and comforts your soul at the same time. This pan is great on the stove and in the oven! Also, if you're ever being shot at I'm sure it could easily take a few bullets.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this pot!
I love this pot so much that I just ordered 2 more. We put all our side dishes in this. The size is perfect. It has a nice weight, not too heavy to handle.

It comes pre-seasoned which is convenient. As always with Lodge, quality is great. Nothing sticks and cleanup is a breeze.

We are trying to convert all our cooking over to cast iron. Cast iron - lasts forever, cleanup is easy, things don't stick and I feel it is so much safer than using something with Teflon or aluminum.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy little pot!
This would be a great pot to subsitute for a dutch oven for a single person or couple because of it's smaller size.We are a family of 4 and it is the perfect size for side dishes like baked beans also. When you don't need the bigger 5 quart dutch oven, this pan gets the job done.As always, LOVE the pre-seansoning! ... Read more
