5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent pocketknife, but you'll miss the screw-driver..
This classic Swiss Army knife will serve you well -- I've had mine for going on 10 years. However, this model does not have a Phillips-head screwdriver function, which I find extremely useful. If you can deal with that missing element, I'd say, buy away!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent knife that lasts
Swiss army knives are an excellent investment. Victorinox is known for its reliability, durability and usefullness, and this knife is one of the best. There are so many tools here that you just can't go wrong with it.

Victorinox knives are a great gift for men. I think women would like this too, once they see how useful it is (there are various other Victorinox knives for every type of taste). Your friends will be impressed when they see your super-utile tool. This knife is worth every penny (it's the cost of a few movie and restaurant outings after all), and make sure you keep it with you whenever you go camping, around the house, in the car, or anywhere. Having this Victorinox knife is like having a whole toolshed in a small, compact, portable, and elegant package. There are two main blades, a long one and a small one. Then there are the very useful scissors, which work very well. There's a little saw, an awl, a corkscrew, a fish scaler with doubles as a small ruler, and even a magnifying lense. There's also a really cool little pen. There are screw drivers and can openers, and much more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Knife
I have owned several Swiss Champs over the years. I have uesed the saw to cut 2x4s on many ocassions and have cut down trees up to four inches in diamater. I have used the file to cut barbed wire on ocassions . I find it very handy. I find the pliers rather small but I have had many uses it for.I use the siscors mostly for cutting small ropes .It is the best pocket knife that I ever used .I used on a farm and used it to do many small repairs jobs on the farm . I no longer live on a farm but I still use the knife every day.

5-0 out of 5 stars adaptable Belt pocket?
I want to know if there is any poket that I can put on my belt for this knife??

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply, the best there is
You can't go wrong with the Champ in your pocket. Owned mine for a good 9 years and is still serves me well since the day I bought it. I even brought it with me when I did volunteer work and never failed me, not even when I used it to hammer some nails onto plywood. Now for the "other" camp, the LEATHERMEN'scamp, sure, the Champ's pliers aren't beefy enough for some jobs but along with a good pair of Craftsman or Snap-on pliers and my trusty knife, I'm pretty sure things will be fine.

Besides, how many stories have you heard of a guy using a Leatherman to perform a tracheotomy on a choking child on a plane? I'm sure you haven't. But a Swiss Army knife did, right?

5-0 out of 5 stars Good but big.
As you can see, this knife has many many tools. However, calling it a pocket-knife is a little misleading. It is a bit big to fit comfortably in a jeans pocket.Buy the sheath that is made for it and wear it on your belt. The sheath also has a pencil, sharpener, compas/ruler, matches, signal mirror, string, safety pin and more. When I've worn mine, the sheath has come in almost as handy as the knife. If you want one that fits in a pocket a little better, try the Delux Tinkerer, has a lot of the tools that I found useful. The victorinox knives are all great quality, withstand abuse, and the tools open and close very smoothly. For heavy-duty cutting, though, I'd look for one with a locking blade, such Victorinox's version of the leatherman.

This knife also comes or at least used to come in black. That's a really nice look and not as common as the red. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It sucks!
I don't understand why guys here rate this unit 5 stars.
I ordered one. The one I got definitely sucks. Poor built. There are many marks and scratches in the unit. Seems not to be a true Swiss Army or maybe it's a refurbished one. I returned it and amazon charged me the shipping fee!
    Anyone has the same problem?

5-0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary.
This is extraordinary. The pocket knife yes, but also the fact that I am writing a review in praise of it. I'm a thought guy not a thing guy; I review books, typically philosophical ones. But this is a thing fit for a philosopher if ever there was one.

Circumstances have conspired to make me spend some time contemplating my Swiss Army Knife. I recently lost mine. It was a dark day. I've had this knife in my pocket for something like 25 years and use it daily. Yes, a person might get along fine without this knife, but why would they? Here's a quick, although partial, inventory: The saw comes in handy for landscaping and plumbing work (cuts PVC and ABS pipe better than a hack saw does) and for gardening (pruning limbs up to 1.75 inch diameter or more). Two knives, two screw drivers, an awl/punch/drill, a can opener, bottle opener, even a toothpick. The scissors are excellent for personal grooming (trimming finger nails and nose hairs). The steel is highest quality and holds sharp edges for years, even under constant use.
There's simply nothing like it: compact, intensely functional, inexpensive, dependable high quality. It'll be your inanimate buddy; you'll use it at home, at work, in the glorious wilderness, should you be fortunate enough to find yourself there. If you want to endear yourself to some philosopher (or perhaps even an ignorant numbskull), or maybe a guy with a nose hair problem, here's the perfect gift.
Other people probably make a 'similar' product but don't waste your money on a knock-off, wannabe or Johnny-come-lately; this knife is a legend for every good reason. The only potential drawback cannot be blamed on the knife itself -- if you've forgotten it's in your pocket you will have it rudely confiscated before you can board a commercial airliner, this we must blame on a world sadly deficient in good philosophy.
It's a beautiful thing. I found mine a few days after I lost it. My nails are clipped and life is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars All I can say is, everyone should have one....
Whether you're a guy or a gal, you'll find yourself using it over and over again. These things NEVER wear out. A must-have for everyone's pocket or purse - it's your "micro toolbox." Keep one in the car too - it just might help save your life someday.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elderly enough to merit the name Victoria
My old one from the early 1950s is stamped Victoria as this company did back then, and a few of the blades are different, but it has survived much use. The plastic sides have long since decomposed and been replaced with handmade light alloy. The only thing that's been cheapened since then is apparently the liners. They were once white brass, but all have been aluminum for decades now. There is no better pocketknife made, in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the large Swiss Army knives
This knife is my favorite of all the Victorinox army knives. It has the most useful tools, basic blades, the corkscrew, the sizzors, the awl (with hole for sewing). You can get the little eye glass screw driver and stow it in the corkscrew. The other larger knives IMO are too bulky and have tools which really aren't up to any major hard work. Pruning knives for trees, fish scalers, magnifiing glasses etc. for instance. So if you are going swiss army this is the best of the bunch. Price/size/utility, its a good deal. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good quality, outdated tool selection
Victorinox makes fine products, and this model is lovely, classic, and durable. However, it is missing tools that you will probably want, such as scissors, while including things you rarely use. (Also, a blade that locks open is preferable for safety.) Pick another model and you (or your gift recipient) will be happier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality knife, lightweight for size
Attractive design with tough, durable red handle. I carried a Case Trapper forever and a couple of years ago started using a Victorinox Tinker. For its length and contents, it is relatively slim and very light. So light in fact you may think it wouldn't be as durable as it is.
This is my 2nd one, which I went out and bought immediately after I lost my first one, so I'm sold on it, there's really only one thing I don't like about it.
The phillips driver extends from the side, making it useless in many applications because it requires so much space to turn. The can opener blade has a slot tip that will work in a pinch in most phillips screws though. On this knife I have now, which I've used and admittedly misused several times a day for a couple of years, I've broken the tips off both blades and reground them, the can opener slot tip and the big slot tip, so alas, the knife is not indestructable.
-I have gone through a lot of knives in my lifetime.
BTW, the stainless steel blades sharpen better than most ss blades it seems, at least that is my experience.
I haven't noticed the keyring thing being a problem at all, actually I like it to be there.
I've found this knife to hold up well in extremely rough use compared to the much heavier Case Trapper, found it's slim width and light weight to carry well in my pants pocket and have been well pleased with the durability of this knife, considering how I've mistreated it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A simple and yet amazingly versitile and reliable knife!
The Tinker was the 1st Victorinox knife I got. I've had it for about 10 years now. It's got the scratches and wear marks that only a very used knife can have and yet functionally it is still in perfect shape. I've been able to keep the 2 blades razor sharp through the years with only occasional sharpening. The bottle opener and can opener double as tough flathead screwdrivers and the philips head screwdriver on the other side is solid as a rock. This knife has gotten me out of a jam many a time and is probably my most treasured item in my tool collection. A must have for the handy-man type!

4-0 out of 5 stars So you want Phillips screwdriver AND scissors?
I saw quite a few reviews here from people who love this model but more or less miss having the scissors. You may want to know that Victorinox makes (at least) 4 slightly different Tinker models: "Small Tinker", "Tinker", "Super Tinker", and "Deluxe Tinker".If the measurement information given above (3 1/4") is correct, then the model sold here is actually the "Small Tinker".The other 3 are full-size models (just 1/4" longer).Trivia aside, what I want to bring to your attention is that the "Super Tinker" model has all the same tools as the "Tinker" plus one - the nifty little scissors! If you're looking for the ideal model that has BOTH the Phillips screwdriver AND the scissors, go with the "Super Tinker" instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great all-around pocket knife
I have had three Tinkers over the years. The first one I liked best, as it was the smaller size and had a nice black handle. It is a great size to carry at all times, and forget about it until you need it.I did miss the scissors at first until I realized something. If you keep it sharp you don't really need scissors.you can use the large blade for everyday use, and just keep the small blade as a backup, always razor sharp.Another reviewer mentioned that you should remove the key ring.I agree wholeheartedly, and I went one step further. After you remove the key ring, grind down the nub that the key ring went through (with a bench grinder or Dremel grinding wheel) and it is so much smoother and fits in your pocket without poking your leg at all.The only disadvantage I can think of is that the plastic that the handles are made of are not as rugged as the rest of the knife. After carrying my first one for about 7 years and dropping it a few times, the handles loosened up and eventually fell off.Victorinox is making some newer models at a lower price point with red nylon handles. The handles are much more durable, but the Swiss cross is just painted on and looks very cheezy. My original, smaller Tinker had a philips screwdriver that was shaped to blend in to the rest of the shape. The newer ones are just round and not quite as nice.I might be ready for my fourth Tinker, hehehe. If they would just make one with the smaller body, with the rivted aluminum handles and managed to keep the toothpick and tweezers... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars one of the best.
    pros:

    1)durable,good steel quality,excellence anti-rush finish,well build,strong and heavy duty.

2)victorinox's brand name and warranty, need i say more?

3)unlike the spirit, this one had a great ruler......

    cons:

1)the file in original and x model seems to made of casehardened steel,so the plating will chipped off(i suggest the RS model the best)

2)they should minus the big flat screwdriver and use individual spring.

3)not needlenose pliers!(a must have for folding pliers)

4)u cannot adjust the tool yrself since u can't unscrew the tool, becos it use pin as the pivot pin.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the RS
When you order this item you get the pictured SwissTool. You do not get the RS.It's still a great tool, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best multitool
I have great experience with that tool. In my work, all my technicians and my partners use that tool in a different kinds of field activities. The tools are versatile and durables. I tried the leatherman wave too, but itsn't the same quality. I recommend the Victorinox CS PLUS Model, with a useful scissors and a six bit set!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Most polished of the lot
I own several multitools, in different brands. All have their pluses and minuses, all have at least one "cool" factor, as well as one or more questionable design choices. But if I had to pick just one, it would be the SwissTool.

The SwissTool is not sexy, like Leatherman's "Wave" or their new "Charge" series. It doesn't have spring-loaded jaws that pop out at the touch of a button, like the Gerber "Recoil". And it doesn't have geared jaws like the SOG.

However, what the SwissTool is, is jaw-droppingly precise, gorgeous, and superbly executed. The stainless steel is polished, not matte or roughened. Each tool is easy to get out, slides out by itself (not in a clump), and has just the right amount of friction. The fingernail nicks are positioned very well, so that you don't need another tool just to open this one. Once the tool is out, it locks into place so firmly you can tell you'd break the tool before the lock itself would fail. And when you need to put the tool back, the unobtrusive spring-loaded release lets you fold the tool back with no effort.

While this page seems to list the basic SwissTool, when I ordered it, I received the RS model, which is the one I wanted anyway. The RS model does away with the metal file, metal saw, and serrated blade, and replaces it with scissors, and what Victorinox calls a "seatbelt cutter", which is a very sharp, curved serrated blade.

As I said, I collect multitools, and none comes close to the individual tool precision, polished fit-and-finish, and comfortable heft of the SwissTool. When you factor in the low price (compared to other tools at this quality level), getting the SwissTool is a no-brainer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
When I decided to buy a multi-tool last fall I did a thourough research on the Internet, reading up on what others said, then I went to the store to touch and feel the tools to really sense the difference, and I must agree: This is the best. My first choice, if I hadn't done my homework, would have been Leatherman, mainly because of brand recognition. I never regretted that I bought the Swiss Tool instead. Why?
    1. The best feature are the spring locks that lock each blade and tool securely. NO fumbling and accidental slips.
    2. The knife blades are razor sharp, even after long use, so is the saw.
3.The size is comfortable, and you grip it very easily.

P.S. I suggest you to get hold of the version with scissors. They may look small, but they're not wobbly at all. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Tool
I used the SwissTool Plus almost every day for three years until I lost it, and I bought the SwissTool Spirit Plus to replace it.

The first impression is that it fits better in the hand, but it feels less solid. I mean, the other tool produced a strong sound while closing and required force to open. It still felt new after three years of heavy use.

However, with the SwissTool one could break his nails trying to open the sheets appling force with a wrong angle. The new tool is much more confortable in that respect.

Also a big improvement are the scissors instead the plain knife. The more useful serrated knife is still there. There are 3-4 new functions and the bit case holds the bits much tighter. The leather pouch has a better construction, but I prefered the black color.

Another benefit is that the new tool is much lighter. To bad there is no ruler on the Spirit, since after some time with the other tool I used to measure small objects or distances on a map quite frequently.

In short, the Spirit is an improvement over the outstanding original tool. I only wonder if the new model will be as solid as the old one.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Slimmer, Trimmer,Sexy,SwissTool
I have had the original SwissTool for a few years it is practaly industructable. I wanted somthing smaller and lighter, so when Victorinox came out with Spirit I got one. It is a nice tool It has most of what it's big brother has with less mass. I also would like a straight blade. I like the bend in the handle, it feels right. The Spirit is well desined with all the tools on the outside. The locking mechinisum works great, very safe. I hope that the Spirit will be as durable as the original SwissTool. Victorinox & Swiss Army Brand have a great warrenty Program so no problems.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cool addition to the swisstool family.
follow the excellence build and finish of the swisstool, swiss tool spirit is another cool addition to the swisstool family.unlike the former swisstools, the spirit is smaller and lighter.if size is your decide factor then go with the spirit instead!oh yeah, here is a main sum up:

    what's good:
1)the needlenose pliers in spirit is more useful if u need need to grip smaller items.
2)if u look at it's scissor,it use the new spring design which is better than the old Vic's weak and cheap spring.

    what's bad:
1)unlike some people,i dun like the curved handle of the spirit, sure it make the plier action perform better, but if u want to use the outside tools,it perform poorer...
2)where is the straight blade?it doesn't make sense to me.
3)again,the strange handle lead to the absense of ruler....

all in all, getting the spirit is an excellence choice for you multi-tool users.hope this help.

    Amazon.com Review

As a Leatherman Wave owner, you know how versatile a tool it can be. This customized Tool Adapter makes it even more so. Designed to slide over the pliers and lock in any of three positions (straight, 45 degrees, and 90 degrees), it turns the Wave into an effective 1/4-inch hex drive capable of reaching into some pretty tight spaces. While certainly not intended to replace a more powerful drive on high-torque jobs, the Tool Adapter is well-suited for everyday applications and accepts any standard 1/4-inch hex drive bit. For added convenience, it comes with six hex bits and a carrying case you can clip on your tool belt. --Carl Thress ... Read more

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here but I just think everyone should know you can get this same tool much cheaper at www.YourBestDeals.net

This guy is dead wrong, its much much higher for wave tool that doesn't even come with a leather pouch and couple bucks higher for the tool adapter.

Personally, I wouldn't go the route of this tool as the wave does everything I need it to do in data networks and minor repair uses. My boss and I use our wave pretty much daily and I recommend it to all my cisco classmates.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Accessory, On or Off of the Wave
This Tool Adapter for the Leatherman Wave comes with 6 hex tips and a black plastic case, 2 5/8x2 1/4x3/4 inches in size with a belt clip on the back, in which the adapter and tips fit snugly. The case is no bigger -and may indeed be smaller- than a screwdriver-type handle or ratchet wrench and tips. So if you already carry a Wave, the adapter might be the practical way to go if you use hex tips. It will accomodate all standard 1/4 inch hex tips.

The tool adapter fits onto the top of the Wave when it is closed. The tip has 3 positions to choose from: straight, a 45 degree angle to the Wave, and a 90 degree angle (perpendicular) to the Wave. The adapter works fine for light work. I would hesitate to use it for a job that requires a lot of torque because the adapter is not super-secure in attaching to the Wave. On these occasions, I would use the adapter without attaching it to the Wave. In fact, the adapter can easily be used on its own, and that is actually preferable in many instances. If you need to get into a small space or have trouble reaching, attach it to the Wave.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff
Of course you need Leatherman Wave or smth. complaiant, but still great. I even used it as it is - like single tool :))

5-0 out of 5 stars Adds the last 1%
Small, compliments the Wave well. Not useful if serious torque is required...however...do you REALLY to carry a full compliment of SAE wrenches??

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful on occasion, but don't carry it around
I've had both this and the tool adapter for the Supertool.

This tool is useful, but not something I carry around every day. When I plan on going somewhere which might require odd screwdrivers but they might not be available, I put it on my belt. It came in handy when helping friends move, for instance, because all their Ikea furniture required allen wrenches they'd packed. I'd tossed a couple hex bits in my adapter case and happened to have the right ones. It's also handy when you can't fit the cordless drill in the right place to disassemble something.

Unlike the Supertool adapter, this doesn't have a flange to help keep the adapter on... while it's unlikely that it would slip off the end while using, it doesn't feel quite as secure.Update: I just got a new Wave (thought the old one was lost), and they've made some minor improvements. They added springs to help the handles click into place in either a closed or open position, which end up gripping the tool adapter very tightly. ... Amazon.com Review

When it comes to pocket multitools, nobody innovates quite like Leatherman. The XE6 is the flagship of the new Juice line, and it packs more tools into a smaller, tighter package than any multitool we've seen yet. Like all the Juice tools, the XE6 sports anodized-aluminum handles in a cool color, in this case "Storm Gray". Only 3.2 inches long, and weighing a mere 6.8 ounces, the XE6 is small enough to be comfortably carried in a pocket. Like all Leatherman tools, the XE6 butterflies open, exposing needle-nose pliers, wire cutters/stripper, an extra-small screwdriver, a small screwdriver, a large screwdriver, and a Phillips driver. A straight knife, a serrated knife, a saw, a diamond file, scissors, an awl, a corkscrew, and a bottle opener can all be quickly accessed from outside the tool. We especially like the satisfying way the Juice models positively click into the open position. The individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel, the same quality found on other Leatherman tools. The XE6 does lack the positive blade-locking mechanism found on Leatherman's Wave, but the blades click securely into place and are far less likely to collapse than the blades on traditional pocketknives. We think most people will find the missing lock outweighed by the advantages of the sleek, compact design. A smart choice for people who want the full complement of tools, the XE6 is a sure-fire gift for the technophiles and gadget lovers in your life. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Knife
Double bladed, my only gripe is the blade's a tad short. Most manufacturers of great knives don't want to go through the trouble sharpening both edges, but SOG. The characteristics of this knife make it a good fighting knife, but a little on the smallish side. Take a look at the Cold Steel Voyager with a 5- or 6-inch blade for not a whole lot more money. Chances are you'll drop this one in a heartbeat.

Free shipping on knives would be great, too, but too many of these outfits want $7 or $8 to send you a $45 knife! I keep hoping free shipping will become the wave of the future in Internet sales. At least on smaller items.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Knife
Great knife.I think it's skirting the lines of legality in my state because you can flip it open, but it's not a "gravity knife" -- it holds itself closed and it has a locking mechanism to hold the blade open, so it seems to fit within the letter of the law.

The "shark tooth" tip is a neat design idea that gives it a VERY sharp point, there are serrated edges towards the handle that help out if you're trying to cut through something like twine or wires, it has a belt clip if you're toting it around as a utility knife but is also small enough to easily fit within your pocket.

If you're looking for a good utility "buck knife" you might as well get something like this. The flipping action and one-finger lock disengage means you can easily use it one handed and it seems rugged enough for everyday use in the tool belt.No more dropping what you're doing so you can pry the blade out or safely close it, just a little wrist and thumb action will do it.

5-0 out of 5 stars another SOG masterpiece
SOG's new pentagon elite folder is a great all around knife. As a martial artist and knife fighter i find the blade's wide spine very useful in a variety of different techniques. The arc-lock is strong and dependable and i found the more practice you devote to the opening mechanism the more efficient it performs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Too Bad
As a weekend warrior and avid outdoor individual I neede an all around knife. Not to small, not to big. This knife takes care of that. It has a great blade, is easy to open, and easy to sharpen. The major drawback is the aesthitics, it could be a little more polished, and a little smoother in design.

5-0 out of 5 stars Slick, very slick.
I was worried that the SOG PE14 Elite might be a bit large for "pocket clip" use, but it really carries well.Light weight and always handy, it's never in my way.The action is smooth and slick with the lock being sure, certain and quiet. Smaller one handed knives that I've used seem a bit fiddly, but the PE14 is large enough to be easily manupulated without having to look directly at it (to open or close it). It's a keeper. ... Amazon.com Review

Packing 14 individual tools into a remarkably compact, metallic blue, anodized-aluminum body, Leatherman's cool new CS4--a.k.a. the Glacier--is a midsize member of the company's exciting, new Juice line of multitools. Only 3-1/4 inches long, and weighing a mere 5-1/2 ounces, the Glacier really is small enough to carry comfortably in your pocket. Like other Leatherman tools, the Glacier butterflies open, exposing the needle-nose pliers/wire cutters/wire stripper, with access to three flat-head screwdrivers, a Philips driver, and a lanyard attachment--the same tools you'll find inside Leatherman's KF4 Solar. The Glacier's handles, however, harbor a different combination of tools that are perfect for picnickers: scissors, a can/bottle opener, corkscrew, a saw, an awl, and a straight knife. Like the entire Leatherman's Juice line, the Solar positively snaps into the open position, and the individual tools are all made of high-grade stainless steel. The Juice multitools do lack the blade-locking mechanism found on Leatherman's Wave, but the blades click crisply into place and hold securely. 5-0 out of 5 stars Leatherman CustomerService, Take 2
Clearly, I owe the fine folks at Leatherman an apology.I had dissed Leatherman's customer service in a prior review (scroll down..), whining about a minor, self-induced problem.Come to find out, they (including the Main Man, The Head Honcho, The Connection - Tim Leatherman)had made several attemts to contact me in effort to address my complaint (whine), but all their attempts were deflected courtesy of my email blocker settings.Through their continued efforts they were able to contact me through other means.Sooo, here I stand, embarrassed for badmouthing such a fine company and terriffic product.Sorry.

The CS-4 and I remain inseparable - it's an integral part of my everyday life.In fact, I have gone on to purchase half a dozen or more as gifts for friends (including a Wave for myself), only I had them properly engraved/etched this time as recommended by the manufacturer.

    Christmas is coming...

2-0 out of 5 stars CS4 tools needs improvement
We bought two of this because it looks so great in the review and advertisement. After using it for a month, there are some flaws, which should be improved to make it a practical tool. Does anyone know what's the awl for? To us, it is too blunt to be useful. It should have sharper edge so we can actually open envelopes, remove staples, etc. The set of screw drives is comprehensive but take care not to exert too much force on them especially the small one, the tip WILL BEND. Anyway, it was be repaired with the other CS4 :-). If you are a Swiss knife user, you will find the Philips screw tip drive too big for common screws found in the office. Also, you should be real careful about the blade, cause it is really sharp... it hurts but we love it. If you are not too fussy about the strength of the tool, go get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little Multitool
I recieved this a gift and I can tell you that it's one of the best tools I've ever used. However, I do have two concerns. One is that the blades don't lock which means that if enough pressure is applied, it can hurt someone by folding in. As well, the saw has a tendency to fold onto the awl, I have to use quite a bit of force to make sure that it folds properly. However, the blade is really sharp and the screwdriver bits are the best I've ever seen. As well the tools open with a solid click which is somewhat reassuring. This tool is right for you if your looking for a small multi-tool that will be used for general not industrail use!

4-0 out of 5 stars Does Leatherman even have customer service?
Twenty Five Year Warranty! boasts the literature.Leatherman's warranty department was completely non-responsive to an emailed query re an anodizing issue.(The anodizing was chipping and flaking off of 1 of 2 I had name-engraved as Christmas gifts- admittedly a bit of a self-imposed problem, but one which deserved a response or reprimand nonetheless.)I ended up sending it (the email) about a half-dozen times, copying both their warranty and marketing departments.Zero.No response - nothing.I would have preferred they tell me to kiss-off, get a life, get a clue, quit engraving, buy a Gerber, etc., but to completely ignore a customer is poor customer service for which one has no recourse save for a forum like this.I have purchased 5 different Leathermans (gifts) and to be utterly ignored is most disconcerting.

As for the product itself, it is an invaluable tool which has become a part of my everyday life - a third hand if you will.I feel naked without it.I've noted that one half of the Juice is slightly wider than its opposite, which I find slightly odd, but typical amongst all like models.

So, c'mon Leatherman, if anyone is listening - please respond to your faithful devotees when asked! You're not the only game in town.

Lastly, at the risk of irritating the Amazon.com police, I've since learned not to have the tools engraved by an outside engraver, rather I now order them thru gunthergifts.com, a Leatherman authorized retailer and engraver (althought they seem to use an etch or perhaps some type of paint similar to what's already on the tool's logo.)Not sure about now, but they were cheaper than Amazon when I last purchased a month or so ago.Enjoy!

2-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but not the highest quality.
My brother bought me this as a christmas gift, otherwise I probably would have stuck with my Swiss Army knife. While most of the tools are really useful, the metal that this thing is made of isn't very strong. My corkscrew bent screwing into its first bottle of wine (and it was a totally ordinary cork), and then when i tried to bend it back with a normal set of pliers it was very flexible and then snapped off at the base. Also, the tool feels flimsy when you use the pliers and really have to clamp down on something, and the handles also cut into my palm. All in all, it's useful enough to keep in the glovebox for an emergency, but I wouldn't use it when I had access to proper tools or even a real Swiss Army knife. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great knife.
I've purchased several Victorinox Swiss Army Knives and this one is by far my favorite.I've had it for over ten years and it is still going strong. My one complaint in general with buying pocket knives is that you always end up with at least one tool that you don't need and at least one tool that you wish you had. This knife has 3 tools in its back, 2 of which I never really use.One of those is the hook thing.I think you can use it to hook on to a piece of wire that is wrapped around something heavy then you use the rest of the knife as a handle.Haven't had the opportunity yet.The other is the sharp thing with the eyelet. Has something to do with being able to work with leather, I think.Haven't had the opportunity. The other tools all come in very handy although I wish the phillips screwdriver was more conveniently located.Use caution if you need to try to get much torque using the screwdrivers--because they don't lock, they can close on your fingers if you are not careful. And the tool I wish it had . . . the saw.One of my former swiss army knives had the saw blade, which worked incredibly well at cutting small pieces of wood and that sort of thing. In general, cannot complain at all about the quality of the knife; the blades open and close smoothly and the knife has served me well for a decade.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it!
I've had this knife for over a year, and I don't know what I did without it.I started carrying this with me everywhere I went, and it's helped me out more times than I can remember.I never realized just how helpful a Swiss Army knife could be until I got this.Need something cut here, need to loosen or tighten a screw there, tweeze a splinter out of my hand, you name it.
I've purchased one for my dad, and, although reluctant at first, he feels the same way I do now.
This is a definite no-brainer of a purchase, as far as I'm concerned.I'm only sorry that I can't give it more than 5 stars. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The next generation pocket knife
The Swiss Card is a wonderful product, I carry one in my wallet so I have it at all times.

Here is what it contains and some of things I use it for:
    1. a small 1.5in knife, which is not practical for much more than opening some packages or making small cuts in a relatively soft material
    2. a ball point pen, this is very useful since I often forget to carry a pen
    3. a set of tweezers, these are the standard tweezers found on other Victorinox products, especially useful for removing splinters.
4.a pair of scrissors, another very useful tool for a variety of tasks
5.a pin, which can be made into a compass with the addition of a buoyant material, also useful for the pesky reset button on many electonics
    6. 4 type screwdriver part, this is useful for very small screws but because of its size gives you no torque with larger screws (especially the phillips head ones found on the back of computers) - also reminds me of a throwing star
    7. a light, this is very useful since I sometimes need a light for many things though I wish this was a white light rather than a red light
    8. a ruler, which I have used many times with both inch and cm markings
    9. a magnifying glass, which is useful to start a fire if you are trapped in the wilderness.

All in all this is an awesome product, the only downside is the blade which is too small for anything practical and also after some use slips out of its slot easily. I have the Translucent Sapphire color. Also be sure to remove from wallet when travelling on an Airline, as they will make you check this item in.

Hope this helps ... Read more

The introduction of the new Flash(TM) line of folding knives debuts SOGs new patent pending S.A.T.(TM) (SOG Assisted Technology). This mechanism helps propel the blade open once the operator has initiated the one-handed opening action. Theyre fast as lightning, safe, and provide an extremely strong blade lock. This opening action is uniquely different from all others with its fast start and power curve throughout the movement of the blade. When closing the blade into the handle you actually feel as if you are cocking a side arm as the blade is held securely inside the handle:Invented by Spencer Frazer, who always manages to come up with something cleverly different, S.A.T.(TM) is the framework for this new line of lightweight folders. 4-0 out of 5 stars The knife I love to hate
There are things about this knife I don't like, but then I find myself carrying it more often than any other knife I own.

    Here's what I like:
1.Assisted opening. I own several, and I don't think I'd buy a regular opening knife again.

    2. The clip is superior. It's strong (one reviewer commented about lateral pressure damaging it...why on earth would you do that?). Best of all, only the clip shows in your pocket, not part of the top of the knife as with almost all others.

    3. It's incredibly sharp. I can shave hair off my arm with it with no problem.

    4. It's incredibly light weight for the size (I have the Zytel handle)

    5. It's very resonably priced.

    And...what I don't like

    1. The steel is not as good as I'd like. It's "good" quality steel, but not great. Plus it's a straight flat grind, which is asthetically boring.

    2. The blade thickness is not what I expected. I haven't tried anything extreme with it, so it's not been an issue.

    3. Yes, the safety will very occasionally latch in your pocket. However, you have to be insane to get into a knife fight...nobody wins. Using a knife for defense is nuts. When I was a deputy, I saw real-world results...dear God! Get a concealed gun permit if you're worried about self defense.

So...I give it 4 stars. I have a Kershaw Blur that I like better except for the clip, which leaves about 1/2" of the handle exposed. I don't know why they would design it that way. When I carry it, I just carry it in my pocket without clipping.

If you want a quality, inexpensive utility knife, this is it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good honest review
The Flash line of knives look very "Cool" however, there is a list of dislikes:
#1 Lock/unlock button freely rattles around while blade is in closed position. #2 main boltster repeatedly comes completely loose & requires "locktight". #3 Safety engauges sometimes while in pocket-leaving you with a limp knife in your hand-not good in emergencys #4. Blade is on the thin side but, is very sharp. #5 When blade is in open locked position there is some play, leaving blade a little shaky. Handle is nicely "Knurled" to prevent slipping though.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great knife at a Great price !
I have used and collected a number of knives over the years. I have to admit I am Totally Brutal to my knives and I find out quick if a knife is well made or not.
In my honest opinion My SOG knives especially my Flash II knife is a great knife to have!
These knives are well made and well designed with a great life time guarantee, Not too many knife companies give you a lifetime gaurantee and shapening too! No other knife company besides Cold Steel will give you more Bang For The Buck !
I've Never Ever had a problem with any of my SOG knives and I'm sure you will find the same true too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet, practical knife
I only gave this knife 4 stars because i think the quality, especially the handle, could be better. The flash system is super smooth and quick...although i'm a little apprehensive about keeping it inside my beltline, I did survive a camping trip with the knife clipped inside my pocket.Another area that the knife is lacking is the clip. It's just too tight, so unclipping and using the knife as a defensive weapon may take longer than anticipated. But all in all, it's a good, practical, and best of all, reasonably price knife.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good knife good price
Opening of the blade if clean and fast with a safety that will keep the very sharp blade from opening in your pocket. The knife comes with a good edge and is easily re sharpened. One of the best I have owned. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Durable Tool
I came into possession of a Juice in rather odd way.Mine came from under eight inches of sand at a saltwater beach in Southern Maine as a response from my metal detector.

What a great find! This tool was encrusted with salt sand, and a good rinse with fresh water made it as good as new.The only damage is few very small nicks in the anodized handle , which came from electrolylsis.

The tool took that sandy grave without major complaint and works like it just came from the store new. This is testament to a well built quality tool.I have a Leatherman Wave & vastly prefer the Juice. Why?I like the fact the Juice has a phillips head screwdriver, that it is more compact, and has a positive detent on almost everytool when you open them.
The Juice, unlike the Wave has bolsters which makes it feel more hefty in your hand.Someone else quibbled about the corkscrew. That's not the reason to buy a well made tool-or am I missing something here? The Juice has every conceivable tool one might need except perhaps a wine cellar or glass chiller.

Addendum: The "levering mechanism" (for the corkscrew) that some one else mentioned in their review is a can opener opener-not a levering mechanism for the "joke" corkscrew.

5-0 out of 5 stars I keep it in my car
This is a handy tool. I like the look and feel. I keep it in my car. My girlfriend likes it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Near-perfect for pro computer geeks
I picked one of these to replace my original and well-worn Leatherman, and I'm quite happy with it. It's very comfortable, and comes with everything a computer/network tech needs. The pliers are always useful, the knife blades are sharp and strong. The saw is perfect for cutting drywall or plastic, and the screwdrivers are just perfect for times when you have a quick job and don't want to go get a full tool kit. I use this thing literally dozens of times a day, and it does everything it's supposed to. While its perfect for computer pros, it might be a little light duty for automotive work, though it's very durable for what I do with it. If you're looking for a gift for a mechanic, you might want to consider the Super Tool instead, but any geek would love this model. As an added bonus, it looks pretty cool too.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but far from perfect.
The Leatherman Juice XE6 is at best a compromise, at worst a bit of disappointment. I have used mine for about 6 months now and most of the time it serves me very well but there are some elements of the design that make me search for different tool to do a job I ought to be able to do with the XE6. I'll list the things that annoy me, anything I don't mention you can assume lives up to the claims in the promotional literature.

First off, the pliers: The jaw design is functional and the jaws seem pretty tough but you'll not get to push them to their limit since the axle they are mounted on doesn't seem up to the job. When you squeeze hard on the handles they flex slightly where they join the jaws. This means when you squeeze the pliers on something thin the handles touch together in the middle (specifically the top of the file and the top of the saw make contact). Often when gripping small things I want to squeeze the handles harder to get a better grip, but it doesn't achieve much because I am already making the handles touch in the middle and also I'm scared of damaging the mounting of the jaws.

Second the scissors: They are sharp but some element in the design means they don't cut very well towards the tip of the blade, even when cutting easy things like thin paper. I think the blades simply meet at an angle too close to parallel, in essence they have tried to incorporate too much blade into the short length and not made the handle long enough. The scissors on standard Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are better.

Third the corkscrew: This is a bit of a joke really, the levering `assist' mechanism puts pressure on the top of a wine bottle using a single edge of metal about a millimeter thick. I used this for a while but after it cracked lumps of glass off the top of a couple of bottles I gave up and resorted to brute force and pulling the corks out using the screw alone. Being used to removing corks in this manner using a Swiss army knife I don't find the level of force needed much of a problem, but there are further faults with the Leatherman's corkscrew; the screw itself is quite short and narrow, it works fine on artificial corks but it often tears traditional corks in half leaving the other end still in the neck of the bottle.

Lastly a minor point on ergonomics: The screwdriver blades are made to be levered out with your thumbnail. The length of the screwdriver blades means that if you lever one out quickly with your thumb the end of the driver is likely to make quite hard contact with the flesh of your thumb just below the nail. The screw driver blades are sharp enough to cut you quite easily. I have got used to opening the screw drivers without cutting myself but believe me, if you use one you will likely suffer the same minor injuries at some point during use.

This may read like a rather scathing review but bare in mind I have only mentioned the things that disappointed me. Just about everything else is great. The blades are great the file and saw are great. The screw drivers are very high quality. Everything is bundled together into a very compact package and very attractively finished. When closed all the lines and edges are smooth making the tool suitable for carrying in a pocket or bag. There are some very nice touches to the design like a series of small ridges near the base on the back of the serrated blade so you can identify which blade is which without opening them.

Overall I am still pleased with the tool, but I was disappointed by the week feeling pliers and the scissors that are frankly just badly designed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressive Tool
I bought the xe6 to replace a swiss army knife I parted with, and have absolutely no regrets.Unlike a typical swiss army knife, leatherman's concept seems to be building a true tool. The tools in the xe6 are placed well and impressive; The wire-cutters/stripper especially so (How true is that Gene?).One word of caution though and I think the only drawback, the blades don't lock; maybe a minimal drawback, but it you use the blade often you might be well-off buying the Wave instead (wave blade is much longer as well). ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Again Amazon fools us with the WRONG picture
[...]I say "added" because the sheath here is not the sheath pictured above. The sheath you are purchasing here is lighter brown and much more flimsy. [...]
I purchased this product specifically because I have the sheath you will receive and was disappointed with it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not as pictured
As another review stated, the sheath I received is not the same style as the one I received.I have one of sheaths in the style pictured and it just looks better that the ones they are sending now.Maybe that's why they used a picture of the older style in the ad.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as it used to be...
Leatherman has apparently changed the design of the deluxe Wave sheath recently. The older ones are as pictured in the Amazon pic above, with nice quality, finished leather and the word "WAVE" horizontally across the flap.

The new ones are much cheaper feeling, and appear to be oil tanned instead of finished top grain. They simply have "Leatherman" diagonally across the front. Not as nice a sheath on any level.Still, they're a good 25% narrower than the nylon version, and Amazon has them priced right.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE WAVE leatherman
I bought this item 2 Christmas's ago for my boyfriend. He always carried around a small pocket one and with his work in electronics he always found it useful to have it with him. I cn say 2 years later he still wears this on his belt everyday wherever he goes.It is used several times daily and has been a great purchase. It works today and looks just as good as the day he got it.I highly recommend this product as the most useful gift a guy could ever get!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
I got this sheath to replace one I lost. At first I considered going with the canvas sheath, but it was just so much larger than the leather sheath. I'm very happy with this item. ... Read more
