It provides a heady 80-inch center height and features a 1200 millimeter double-coated fly, sealed seams, and a polyethylene tub floor. The reflective zipper pulls make it easy to get in and out of the tent--even in the dark. It comes with a strong hybrid frame system, mixing both steel and fiberglass poles, and a wheeled carry bag with instructions sewn into the bag so they'll never get lost.

It comes with a remote-controlled light (with a 65-foot reach) that attaches easily for exceptional nighttime security and visibility. Other features include a quick-release buckle system and two hanging cup holders.

The Squall Ridge's sky panels offer large areas of mesh for maximum airflow and awe-inspiring views of the night sky. In addition, the rainfly has clear panels with zippered covers that offer you the option of having night views or no morning sun in your face. The Squall Ridge's venting system creates a vortex that flushes hot air up through the roof, providing fresh air all night long. For maximum climate control, open or close the lower vents to feel the cool night breeze or keep warm air in.

The CB-5500 features the GoBe Dry Ultimate Rain Protection System, which combines patent pending fabric, component, and seam technology that culminates in exceptional protection from the elements, in particular rain, in any and all terrain. The DryTek Fabric repels moisture with a protective coating. About Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, Chairman of the Board, and her son, Tim Boyle, President and CEO, lead the company. Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. They introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then 60 year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign. In 1998 the company went public, and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

Amazon.com Tent Guide
Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.

Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.

For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.

Domes, Tunnels and Sacks
Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.

Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.

Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

3-0 out of 5 stars Love it....but!!!
This is a difficult review to write, but I thought anyone interested in this tent should know some of my experiences with it. First off this is a gorgeous tent. It is spacious and airy. There is plenty of room above your head when standing for a large gear loft. The room divider is well designed and easy to install. The ventilation is excellent and makes for a dry(no condensation) experience.

I was able to erect this tent by myself, but it is a struggle. It is really a two person task. Once up, the final erection process is fairly straight forward and if you forget what to do next there are good instructions sewn into the tent carrying case. This carrying case is one of the best I have ever seen. It is very well designed and has some very nifty features. It has wheels so it can be pulled around luggage style. It has a zippered expandable feature which helps to compress the size or expand it depending on what else you might want to carry. The tent stakes were also some of the best I've seen. Strong and easy to use...looked like they could be driven into the roughest terrain.

We loved this tent, but ended up sending it back. Northpole, the makers of this tent, were absolutely excellent to deal with, but they were not able to deal with some inherent design flaws. The tension on the tent pole sleeves and on the tent where the top short pole crosses the long shock cord poles is tremendous. This area should have been reinforced both on the tent and on the sleeve. Upon first set up the stitching started to let go on one side and looked like it was ready to pop on the other. This design limitation makes this otherwise wonderful tent unusable.

The rainfly was easy to put on, but did not fit properly on one end and gave the tent a slight lopsided apprearance. The sleeve on one end of the door frame also had a 1" tear...totally unacceptable for a brand new tent. As I said, Northpole was wonderful in being willing to replace the fly, but that still did not resolve the problem with the tearing sleeve and tent attachment at the top on both sides, so I reluctantly returned the tent.

Perhaps Columbia and the makers at Northpole will address these issues in a latter model. If so, they would have an excellent tent that I would be happy to own. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars use your air matress as a raft
I can not rate this tent because I feel I got cheated;I had purchased an Eddie Bauer 10 man tent last year and used it for the first time this past summer it rained and you can watch water coming in through the zippers.I have talked to the manufacture and got nowhere;also the room separaters you can see right through them;do not bother putting them up.I started reading other reviews and gettig a conclusion that eddie bauer tents suck

5-0 out of 5 stars faithful tent
This tent has sheltered us from The Rockies to The Great Lakes for almost 3 years. Through wind, rain and cold, it has kept us dry. The ventilation is good with all of the windows as well during warmer spells. It's not very spacious, but it works perfectly for my husband and me, our bags and our air mattress.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak Tent
I have used this tent 5 or 6 times. Zippers always get stuck and the fly construction is terrible. If you plan to camp only durning spring or summer in perfect conditions, then for the price it is just okay.Shop around!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dependable Tent!
This tent did the trick! We took a couple of trips this summer and the tent is easy to set-up, and did not leak in (light) rain.I'm not a die-hard camper, so I wouldn't know how this tent compares to more expensive ones. With all of our gear, it fit 2 adults and 2 kids pretty comfortably--any more gear or people would have been too crowded.Good value for the $.

5-0 out of 5 stars A bit in-tents!
I'm not a regular camper (but I'm willing to start)!I practiced setting up this tent one time before taking it camping, and that was good enough. My son and I were able to easily set it up at our campsite even though we got there after dark.We didn't get to test it out on harsh elements like some other reviewers did, in fact the mountain weather was quite pleasant, but that gave us the opportunity to enjoy the *moon roof*.I had no problems with the zippers. The shoe vestibule worked very well for us, keeping our shoes dry and the tent floor relatively clean. The ceiling storage unit kept my eyeglasses within reach and from getting bent.I absolutely can not imagine having four people in there! We could have fit it one more adult without too much difficulty, but I liked the space I had, with just one teenager along. The *storage room* is not a separate room, but just kind of makes the tent bigger.Overall, it's well worth the money. ... Keep glasses, a flashlight and other necessities within an arm's reach with the two handy storage lockers inside the tent. The Clean Sweep zippered floor flap makes it easy to sweep out debris. Other features include a quick-release buckle system, two hanging cup holders, and a removable door mat.

The CB-7100's venting system creates a vortex that flushes hot air up through the roof, providing fresh air all night long. For maximum climate control, open or close the lower vents to feel the cool night breeze or keep warm air in. The CB-9000 features the GoBe Dry Ultimate Rain Protection System, which combines patent pending fabric, component, and seam technology that culminates in exceptional protection from the elements, in particular rain, in any and all terrain. The DryTek Fabric repels moisture with a protective coating. The DryFloor Tub design elevates the floor seams to keep away water, while the DryGuard Skirt deflects rain from the floor seams and stake loops.

1-0 out of 5 stars On first use, tent leaked even after seams sealed...
This is a great tent when it is dry, but if it rains you are in trouble! The rainfly is relatively small and the seams leaked awfully even after they were sealed.

Take a really big tarp along if you think there might be a chance of rain, otherwise buy a different tent that actually keeps the water out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Of The Best
This is a Great Tent!No better deal out there! If I had known just how truly wonderful this tent was going to be, I would have paid more for it.It's definitely worth every penny.Lots of room, perfect amound of windows, in all of the right places, and even a place to store watches, cell phones, and flashlights in a small compartment in the inside of the main dome, at the top.It is a Great tent that I would not hesitate to buy again.I also bought this exact one for my sister's wedding present.I Absolutely Love This Tent!

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent family tent!
With the assistance of our Coleman, 3-room tent, our family of seven has become avid and enthusiastic campers. This tent is easy to set up and take down -- even for those of us who are mechanically challenged -- is capable of withstanding all but the most severe weather, has a number of useful features (such as the removable interior walls), has plenty of space for our large and active family, and is a great value. We are on our second one, the first having been retired after many years and multiple camping trips in a variety of settings, and look forward to many more years of continued use.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very nice, but takes waaay too long to set up
Unlike some of the other reviewers, I am by no means a regular camper. In fact, if I set this tent up twice a year, it's a lot.I'm amazed by one reviewer's set-up time of 15 min. because it took me over an hour to complete my setup of both tent and fly.I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't think it's supposed to be that difficult to set-up.
One thing's for sure - my family loves the tent with all its room - the kids sleep in one "wing", my wife and I in another, and the dogs and luggage/gear occupy the rest of the main room.Tons of room.Other than some condensation on the outer layer in the morning, we haven't had problems with water either.Great value for the price, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tent
This tent is our second tent. It's great for kids and an easy setup. However people, if you purchased this tent at Target you payed too much.I purchased this same tent at Sports Authotity this past July for $99.98.I was planning on purchasing a tent at Target but they would not honor my raincheck.I did look at this Coleman tent at Target but went down the street and checked out Sports Authority. It was a good walk and saved me $50.00. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A cheap and EASY solution
I bought this "Sun shelter" hoping that the material would be waterproof as the reminants of Hurricane Ivan hit us on my first camping weekend in PA. It held up extremely well under very heavy rains. We eventually threw a tarp over it in order to keep out the horizontal rain. It worked famously, and I bought it in-store for only 25 bucks!!! So for spending a total of 33 bucks I got a completely waterproof 10x10 tent with a clearance of almost 8 feet! At first I though it was going to be very hard to put up but after reading the directions, it took me and my girlfriend a total of 10 minutes to put up. THANKS FOR THE GREAT BUY!

2-0 out of 5 stars Rocket Science
The little stickers on each pole which identifies which other pole it goes with don't stick on. Therefore, you are stuck with oddly matched poles with no direction of where they go. My opinion is to invest in a canopy other than a "Greatland" product.

5-0 out of 5 stars did the job well
bought this item for a bbq that i was having knowing a storm was coming. took 1 person by himself to put this together only took 10 minutes if even that, held up great in the rain and the price was right. this canopy A+

4-0 out of 5 stars I could put it together by myself!
I bought the seasonal version of this with a different print, but same size and construction.I was not using it for camping, but for backyard shade over a kiddie pool. The directions say it takes 2 people to put together, but I didn't have a spare adult handy and although, at first hesitant, was able to do it myself. It probably took me 25 minutes or so, no tools required. The poles all have stickers on them matching numbers found on the directions' diagram. The trickiest part was putting the tarp on the frame, but if you follow the directions and do it before the leg poles are on, there are velcro tabs to help hold it in place on the roof poles as you pull it across.Put the legs on last and it works out fine.I didn't stake mine down, as it came with plastic feet for the ends of the leg poles and then I can move it around the yard (definitely need help with moving it because it's pretty tall and awkward, but not heavy). It has kept rain off my husband while doing handyman work outside and kept the sun off my kids. The material is plastic-like and I don't expect to be able to use it for more than a season or two, since we have long summers here and it will deteriorate in the sun, but for the money it has been a great canopy!

2-0 out of 5 stars Works -- once or twice
As others have written, it IS difficult to put together -- even for two people (and I, too, have put together dozens of different tents, shelters, etc.).Also as noted by other reviews, it tears easily when exposed to the elements for even a day. Finally, during our first use, one (all plastic) corner bracket partially broke; during our SECOND -- and apparently LAST -- use, TWO MORE corner brackets broke completely.Spending even twice as much for a more robust, better designed unit will probably result in ten times as much satisfaction...and use. ...
