5-0 out of 5 stars Love this bike - don't worry about brakes
We found that the pedals on most trikes are too far from the seat, and other little bikes have pedals on the front wheel which are hard to reach and which turn the wheel left and right when the child pedals. My daughter used this bike at 2 1/2 but we still had to push her a little bit.Although the bike *is* heavy, I think the problem was more in her coordination because early in the second summer she used it, one week it "clicked" and she just took off on it.She rode it everywhere the summer that she was 3 1/2.We have a fairly sloped driveway and by pushing the pedals backwards she could stop the bike at the bottom.(Also enjoyed making it go backwards.)She has a little brother and I love that he will be able to use this bike next, because it is gender neutral.

Also worth noting: we ran over one training wheel with the car and the company replaced it for just $3.50 including shipping.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWSOME 1ST bike for 2 year old!
We got this 10" bike for our son for Christmas when he was 20 months old.It only took a couple days of practice and he was whizzing all over the place in it.We chose this over the tricycle because when we tested them out in the store, the 10" with training wheels was much easier for him to control. All the bikes with the pedals attached to the wheel seemed to be more difficult to pedal. We also love the fact that instead of brakes, the bike pedals backward. Our son quickly learned how to manouver out of tight spots buy pedaling backward then forward again without ever having to get off the bike. When he is a bit older we will probably buy him a bike with brakes, but for a little guy who isn't out riding in the street alone, this bike is perfect.

We had to leave off the red plastic piece under the seat for him to be able to reach the pedals at first. That made the height just perfect. He is now almost 3 years old and still LOVES this bike.We have adjusted the height a couple times since he got it and lifted the training wheels a bit so he can start learning to balance without them.

The only thing on this bike that has broken in the 15 months we've had it is the bell.It broke after about 8 months of hard play. That's okay though. We didn't buy the bike for the bell.

All in all, this is THE BEST CHOICE when buying a child their first bike. It's not only a beautiful bike, but it is very durable and SUPER-EASY for little ones to ride.I recommend this for any little BOY or GIRL as their first bike.

2-0 out of 5 stars Adorable but way too heavy (and, no, there are no breaks....
We bought this bike for our son a year ago, for his third birthday.I liked that it was a nice small size and the look was gender neutral and gorgeous. However, we have been very disappointed with the bike's performance. It is just so HEAVY.My son has a really hard time getting going on it and going uphill just doesn't seem to work for him on this bike. One mistake that I won't make again is trying to surprise him with the bike and not trying it out ahead of time in the store. We will soon buy him a new bike and this time will take him to a real bike shop to be fitted and to try out the bike.

3-0 out of 5 stars Advertisement misinformation
I would think that the information of a child's bike that did not come equipped with brakes would be listed in the advertisement. This bike has NO brakes. Had I known this information I would never have bought this bike. We have a steep driveway and there is no way for her to stop or even slow down without dropping her feet and risking injury. I am currently writing a complaint letter to the manufacturer regarding this situation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product!
Great product, well made, sturdy and secure. You have to remove the seat, then install the base of the push bar - very simple.
We bought it for a Kiddio Supertrike, it fits perfectly. However the screw that secures the base to the trike frame is way too long. We added 5 extra washers to it, that solved the problem.
The bar snaps into the base and comes out with a push of a button. I love this feature as we frequently add and remove the push bar, depending on which one of our children rides the trike. Overall we are pleased with the product - the little trikes should really come with it to begin with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy & easy to install (can be used on Jumbos w/ adapter )
I thought that potential consumers out there would like to know that this push bar CAN be used on the Jumbo Kettrike. Like the previous reviewer, I bought the Jumbo Kettrike and yes, the push bar does not fit. However, I called Kettler USA (you can find them online) and I was told that I needed an adapter (looks like a connector of some kind made of plastic) which they sent free of charge. The instructions are a little obscure but it makes it easier when both the seat and the bucket are taken off the trike before installing the adapter. It took me less than 15 mins (I spent more time trying to understand the pictures-only instructions!). Overall, it's one of the better push bars out there.Height is adjustable and everything fits into place and there are no wobbles (assuming you put everything together properly!)

3-0 out of 5 stars Double Check the compatabilitiy of this push bar -
Like the kettrike this bar is made well. It does NOT fit all kettrikes - I have the Jumbo Model and it will not work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Freedom Express
I just finished a three-mile loop on a bike trail with my 3 1/2 year old.He was riding his 12" Radio Flyer Bicycle with training wheels and I either had to walk as fast as I could or jog to keep up with him. It's the first time I've exercised with him without having to push a stroller or tricycle and we both had a great time. The bike is beautifully geared, very easy for him to pedal and brake, and everyone comments on how great it looks...no cartoon character tie-in, no bad race car graphics. It was a little expensive when the shipping was factored in, but I'm glad we went for a good quality bike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Bike!
We helped my son save his money and helped him buy this bike nearly three years ago. The poor thing has been sorely abused and the original tires are nearly bald but the thing still is in good shape. I cannot think of another toy that has seen so much daily use. A great little bike!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent First Bike Choice
I had purchased the Radio Flyer All-Terrain Tricycle, but it was poorly constructed, and had to be returned. This bike was suggested as a replacement, and it is wonderful! My 4 year-old has no trouble stopping or steering (as he did trying another "big boy bike.")He loves to ride "super-time fast" and feels so proud of himself.

I strongly recommend this as a first time bike. The training wheels ride smoothly on the ground, providing as much security as a trike. The bell is fun, and the classic red looks can't be beat. The seat and handlebars are easily adjustable, and can accomodate a larger child (mine is 44 inches and growing...)

5-0 out of 5 stars nice, but not so durable
My son got this for Christmas and loved it, but after just 5 months of normal play from a 3 year-old, the spokes on the tires all began to fall out.We tried to get them back in, but had no luck.Soon, the spokes became entangled with the bike's chain and would cause the chain to fall off.I took this bike to my local bike repair shop and they could not fix the spokes. I have written the company and am awaiting a reply.I recently visited a toys-r-us store and I looked at this bike on display in the store, and it too had some loose spokes.I would not recommend this bike.

5-0 out of 5 stars old time fun and memories
Ipurchased this bike for my nephew's 3rd christmas. At first I thought he wouldn't be able to master it, but within minutes he ways flying down the sidewalk like a pro. When he returned home I had to ship it to him...his only conversation with me was"auntie where's my bike?"This was one toy he truely loved. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Tough to assemble/wrong parts/bad manual
Santa got this bike for my daughter. As his chief helper I was chartered with putting this bike together. It was no easy task!

The front tire arrived with incorrect spacers and I had to disassemble the wheel assembly to fix the problem. It took me awhile to sort out what needed to be done since the manual only vaguely applied to the bike and the parts didn't even come close to fitting in any logical fashion. Also the assembly requires metric tools. The after a lot of grumbling the bike finally came together and my daughter loves it.

If you are not mechanically inclined, pass on this bike or have it professionally assembled. You may get the wrong parts as I did and the manual will not help you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sturdy Trike, Needs New Axel Design
My 18 month old son recieved this trike as a gift from Santa and has loved it. Santa was able to purchase this online for a steal of $34.99 plus shipping, which was a total of $52. The $69.00 tag is a bit steep in my opinon (plus shipping!).

It is a very sturdy bike and is easy to assemble and operate in the "stoller-mode."Parents can even steer it with wheel unlocked, providing that the "driver" does not overrule the Parent!

One Warning: Please take the time to purchase new rear axel bolts and nuts. As a mechanical engineer right away I saw the design-flaw in the manufacture's axel-tabs. I felt the tabs would not hold the rear-wheels together long.I purchased some 8 inch bolts with nuts to mount the rear wheels, then hack-sawed the excess off.Now the bike is perfect!

    Good Luck and Have fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great first trike!
I got this trycicle for my 18 months old because he felt left out watching his older brother going on his bike. The push handle with foot rest and front wheel locking sistem is great! It feels to me like a stroller but for the baby is a cool ride. He loves it and he stays in it much more than his stroller. The only drawback is that it's hard to steer, I have to lift the front wheel and then turn, but this doesn't seem to bother him besides, he's secured with the little seat belt. I agree with shipping cost! Fortunatly I bought this one at the local store.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't get cheated on the shipping
This is a great product, but the shipping charges are vastly overinflated.TRU lies about the actual weight and wants to charge around $40 shipping, but I got it elsewhere for $12 shipping (and a much lower price to start with). If you can't get it in the store, make sure you aren't being deceived with the shipping cost.

Assembly was a little difficult - the steering locking collar wouldn't line up right, and we had to make a minor modification to get the holes in the right places.Other than that, it's pretty sturdy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Huffy Bicycles, please modify the rear wheel caps design
It is a sturdy tricycle with an innovative canopy design. I like the fact you can lock or unlock the steering wheel. However, there is a major design flaw. The rear cap that is suppose to secure the rear wheels to the axles is a flimzy cap that just taps into the axle. Horrible design from safety point of view. My son rode for a month, and one of the rear wheels fell off. Luckiy, he wasn't hurt. I bought two axles with nuts to secure the rear wheels from a hardware store. I would recommend anyone who purchased or will purchase this item to replace the rear axles and caps immediately.

3-0 out of 5 stars MISSING PARTS & RUSTS QUICKLY
Good idea, but the product packaging is terrible. Two critical bolts not included, but I found acceptable replacements at my local hardware store. The chrome rusts very quickly. We do store it outside, but it has never been rained on and the chrome rusted within two weeks. Our son likes it, but it is very difficult to turn with the front wheel locked and even more difficult to push it straight since the front wheel wobbles a lot. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars murray firecracker bike
I bought this bike for my son last summer. It was not until this summer that the training wheels came off. This bike has been great as far as a first bike goes. No real problems except the training wheels it comes with are cheap and bend easy. For the money this is a great beginner bike and he loves it and rides it daily.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't but this bike...
I purchased this bike for my 4 year old last fall for his birthday.Of course because it was fall he really didn't get to ride it much until this year.Well the training wheels on the bike constantly bend up to the point that the whole bike is tilting which in turn constantly causes my son to fall.I recently brought it to a bike place to see if we could buy new training wheels for it and they believe it's the bike, not the training wheels.I am so disappointed with this purchase and will eventually have to buy a new bike.Since I purchase it last year, I cannot even return it for a new one. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Little firefly of a bike
I just bought this bike today (08/26) and I love it. I'm about five foot two and I still have room to grow (Although, I like both feet on the ground and not doing the bunny hop on one leg). The bike is perfect for those smaller then me; my four foot friends love this bike too. The bike is really made for the younger crowd (9-12 year olds). I'm a bit old for this bike but it's hard to find a good price bmx bike larger than 20 inch. I'm not a fan of the sissy looking mountain bikes and I'm not going to drop 180 bucks on a chopper bike when I wouldn't be able to take it off-road and onto some jumps. The bike is pretty light weight; I've found it easier to pop wheelies on this bike then most. The ride is rather smooth and isn't delayed or struggles for speed like most single speed bikes.

Only problems I had with the bike was as soon as I got it out of the box, the silly little plastic bits that cover the back tire nuts fell off and went missing. It doesn't really matter since those were stupid little bits anyway, but I do wish I knew where those pieces were. The other problem, and this is more of personal choice, is that there are only front pegs. I'd like to have a pair of back pegs as well as front. I thought that the front pegs could switch and go onto the back tire but no. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Still, it is a sweet bike and looks better in real life then in the pictures. Mine has slightly different coloring which makes it look better then what is shown. It is still flamed but the sprocket is yellow and the pegs are black. It also came with a flamed bar/chin pad. Also, it was very easy to assemble. It took me about half an hour to an hour to set it up by myself with a passing glance from my father. All and all, a great bike and I recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bike!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent boys bike
We ordered this bike online as a birthday present on a Sunday night and rec'd it on Tuesday.Excellent service. The service is only surpassed by how quickly our 6 year old son started riding this bike.He had a 16 inch BMX with training wheels. He had a hard time riding it.This bike's frame design facilitated his learning with a low seat height and a longer wheelbase and larger tires which seemed to help balancing. He was literally riding in about 15 feet. Now he wants to ride constantly. The Schwinn people sure have a winner here in my book.It is also appears very well made.We also like the front and rear hand brakes as well as the pedal brake.First rate product.

4-0 out of 5 stars they do make them like they used to
This bicycle has held up under tremendous abuse from my son.I am glad I went with an old name, brand name, for this purchase. While he will need a bigger bicycle at some point in the future, this is currently perfect for his needs.I am most impressed by how well it is made given the destructive power of my boy.Keep up the good quality, Schwinn.

4-0 out of 5 stars Durable, but will be outgrown
Most people look to the Schwinn brand for durability, but a typical bike-riding boy would probably outgrow this bike before he is 10 years old.For about $40 more, you can buy a better Schwinn BMX style bike with the cords running through the frame so they don't get tangled up if the front wheel is spun around.

Yo if I were any Kid I will buy this bike. You can get mad air.

5-0 out of 5 stars sweet bike
I just got this bike and it's great. The shipping was fast and the bike is sweet. I have a jump or to set up in my yard and I can get big air with it. It's the best bike I have ever had.

4-0 out of 5 stars This Bike Is Worth the Money
Even though I have a couple of issues with the bike, they are merely of physical appearance, and do not interfere with the performance of the bike. This bike is really good for the money, although i received mine minus the pedals and the pegs. Amazon was good to work with me, and allowed me to buy them from another store, and refund me the cost, which was EXCELLENT on part of Amazon.
The bike puts together easily, although I am no expert, I have had enough experience to know what I'm doing. The preset brake configuration was very good compared to some other bikes I've seen, but I was able to further tweak it to my liking (involves pulling wires, screwing in, screwing out etc...). "OMG Don't Buy this bike" has a minor point with the brake pads, although I assure you they don't "melt off". Simply put, they lose alot of, errr...paddage the first few times you brake hard, however, I have found that for these pads, its normal so that it will fit the bike rims better, and so its a kind of "braking it in" deal, pardon the pun. The rims are polished with some type of finish, i suppose to increase brake pad grip, but I have not seen any obvious benefits, although it doesnt hurt. Some minor inconviences are is the style, where the front part is, well, you'll see it, its fairly different (design-wise) from most bmx bikes in that its shaped differently, but its only minor.
Another issue is the seat, which turns out to be fairly small, I think ill just get another one.
Other then that, this bike hands very well, the tires, rims, handlebars, etc....they are all very good components that seem to be very sturdy. I would say for the money, this bike is defintely worth it. So...enjoy!

1-0 out of 5 stars OMG DONT BUY IT
This was like my first bike.....I got it in like december2003 for my Birthday and its already screwed.... The brakes....OMG.....They melted on my rims.....Dude i went down like 5 stairs with it and now my wheel wiggles like crazy and it looks as if its gonna fall off!!!! GAYEST BIKE DON"T BUY IT EVER!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great starter uni w/ advanced potential
Well, I'm just starting out and I have to admit that not only is this the best uni I've ever ridden, its also the only one. Still, for around a hundred bucks, you can't go wrong. The saddle is decent, the workmanship is nice, and it appears to me that there's a bit of room to grow when I decide to throw a bigger tire on it and get into some light muni.Assembly went easy enough, though I did have to nip a bit off the seatpost to make it rideable (I'm 5'10, but I have a comparatively long torso, so guys of similar size may have different results).

Overall, go for it. I'm still learning- I've only had my lx for a little while and I'm still falling all the time. But in searching out learning tips and stuff of the intarweb, I've discovered that there is a huge unicycle community out there. I can't wait to get better and ride some trails.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...in the balance of the angels...
Bottom line: chicks dig unicycles. Back when I was a freshman in high school, my unicycle-powered antics (and sensitive ponytail) enabled me to date one of the upperclass girls, who would otherwise be out of my league. I also juggled, but grew tired of the constant derision.

As I matured, I've decided to live my life with a "uni" theme. I cultivate my unibrow, my van has a unicorn airbrushed on the side, and I wear a uniform at work. I was going to read a book about Ted Kaczynski, until I realized he spelled his nom-de-guerre with an "a."

So it stands to reason that I'd get my hands on this superb item. The jet-black color adds an aura of sinister coolness, like it's the valued accessory of a ninja stealth commando. The ample seat comfortably accommodates my rear-end, and the shiny spokes flash hypnotically, dazzling any onlookers.

Thanks to the sturdiness of my Unistar, I've become a legendary figure on the UMX circuit. My specialty freestyle move is a Nac Nac/Tailwhip combo. On a lesser unicycle, such a move would be almost impossible.

Just picture yourself chugging down the dirt track, pedaling furiously, launched into the air off a massive hill. Get yourself a Unistar, and you won't have to only imagine it; you can LIVE IT.

And let the ladies flock your way.... ... Read more
