I was surprised at the disparity between the manufacturer's sales pitch above, and the reality of this snorkel's performance.We bought two of these for a Caribbean vacation and we both experienced frequent water leakage into the tube. I accepted this and just frequently blew hard out the purge valve (scaring surrounding fish away), whereas my girlfriend was so frustrated that she frequently pulled up to drain the tube. I should also mention: we have both snorkeled many times before, neither of us dove under water, and there were no waves. I suspect the problem has to do with the purge valve - which appears delicate.I give 2 stars because it sort of works; it's just unpleasant.

I probably shouldn't be surprised though.After receiving it I could tell upon close examination that it wasn't likely to work as well as advertised.What you cannot see in the picture above is that the "astounding 12-year Pressure Release Valve" is merely a simple float-valve design that is less efficient at closing when the tube enters the water at an angle.

The other problem is that the manufacturer (Ocean Master) will not refund your money if the product is unsatisfactory.Obviously they cannot resell it, and do not want to lose any money on the sale.However it seems to me that if you are going to exaggerate and hype the product as "absolutely dry" and "astounding", and it clearly is not, then you in fact bear some responsibility.Just my 2 cents.

Excellent choice for begineers without any sacrifices...
I bought one of these so the two of us can snorkle, as we only had one, but two sets of fins and masks. It is completely dry and takes all the skill out of trying to blow out water when your lungs are ready to explode and you need air bad! You will never swallow water and the mouth piece has a purge device so you just exhale and water/spit leaves the tube. That stuff will happen in any snorkel, but hard to blow out to the top. The tube is large and air volume is great, making it super easy to use. Very natural feeling and easy to get use to. Under slight waterpressure and warm breath,our cheap snorkel started to collapse at the mouth piece,(after about 30 minutes) but not this one. So I am buying another to replace the cheapy. Besides, having a dry snorkle is so so convienent, and I want the two of us to equally enjoy our snorkling. If you want to dive down off the surface and go down for a closer view, you just take a breath and go for it, and when you come up you just start breathing again, without having to raise your face up out of the water.
