Solid performer
Overall, I'd say it's a pretty solid performer. Light, energy conserving and I love the catch.

There's something about the construction that's gonna throw you off in the beginning though. Perhaps it's the trihedral design of the blade? Whatever it is, the three of us who tried it out found that you had to concentrate the first few times we used it.

Why? The entry has to be at a certain angle, or your blade will create a splash, throwing you off. The exit also has to be at a certain angle or else there will be a sticky feeling and a 'pop' as you pull it out.

So if you've been using generic paddles, I feel it's not gonna be very intuitive. The first two kilometres I paddled, I actually got a little tired making sure the entry and exit was good because I had to put some concentration into my stroking.

But once I got into the swing of things, well, well... It was sweet! The weight, or lack thereof, rather, is a pleasure. The blade construction, which had been a bother because of the way it necessitated the precise entry and exit actually facilitated the stroke transition and gave more power after one got used to it. Sweet!

I did a few rolls and sculling for support with this paddle while in a S-sized Mega sea kayak and it gives pretty awesome support, for those moments when your hip flick fails you *grins*.

I won't give it a five out of five for the average consumer for the following reasons. Firstly, it definitely takes some getting used to and it's more for the intermediate paddler. The non-torso-rotating paddler's definitely gonna find some issues here. Secondly, I couldn't sprint very fast with this paddle. That's not gonna be an issue for most sea kayakers but if you often get into situations where you'd better haul your ass over damn fast, then you might want to reconsider.

But if you're a long-distance tourer who has a good stroke, then this is definitely a paddle you should be considering. It's very good at eating up the distances without you even noticing. Five out of five for this case.

Did I mention that it's quite pretty too? *grins*

For reference, I would say that I'd consider myself an intermediate paddler, although more of a short boat user rather than a long boat user. I can't say I'm any expert too *grins*. This may affect my judgement and you should take into account your boat, your stroking and usage patterns when buying it...

I'm not much for words, but this paddle is awesome!It's design takes a little getting used to, but after a few times using it I found you get a lot more power out if it with less effort than other designs.
The product weight listed is WAY off.For some reason it's listed as 5 pounds!Mine is only 32oz (which is also listed on the companies website), one of the lightest paddles around.
