Burton capstrap vs Technine baltimore
---Burton and Technine are the only choices for the "capstrap". Burton owns the patent and Technine has exclusive rights to it.

---I've owned the Technine since last year and recently bought the wife a pair of the Burton Lexa for christmas. We both are season passers in Utah and ride 2-5 times a week.

---When I bought mine last year I needed something that could hold up to the amout I would be using them.I had no complaint last year and still love them this year.The wife's story is much different.She was able to use the Burton's 6 times before the buckle on the "capstrap" defected.At first I thought it was a "freak" accident and knew that there couldn't be that much wear.But after getting home and looking at it, Burton seems to have used plastic for their "retaining" action on the buckle. Technine, on the other hand, used an all metal construction.

---I feel this is a major flaw with the Burton capstrap. And evenmore; Burton, being the largest of the snowboard only manuf. should have realized this in R&D, if not just used common sense. Since after all the part that takes the most consumer abuse and wear on bindings are the buckles. On, off for every run and use plastic over metal?

---I'm not out to sell anyone on Technine nor fight the obvious fact of Burton's reputation for their products. Nor do I support the Technine company BASED on their Utah connection, the wife is from VT home to Burton. I only want buyers to see this problem before they spend their hard cash on a more expensive pair of Burton, thinking they are getting better quality, when the cheaper ($) Technine have a superior construction.
